Instinct Solar I'm paying for a "known hardware issue"?

So I plunked down ~$400 on an Instinct Solar via GovX ~back in 09/2020.  Around 1 yr ago it started randomly shutting off, the issue has become progressively worse.  I called in today and was informed that this was a "known hardware issue".

I see as far back as 2 yrs ago and as recently as  month ago folks are posting about this problem with this model.

While I appreciate the 1/2 off a recertified replacement I feel compelled to ask one question.

Why am I paying to replace a product that the call center representative stated is a quote "known hardware issue"?

If this is a known issue with the hardware then that doesn't sound like something the paying customers control nor something they are responsible for causing.
