Instinct Solar 1gen - 2% of battery per hour - battery replacement???

Hi guys!!
I'm from Brazil and bought an used Instict Solar, it's look's like brand new, but it's waisting 2% of battery per hour, I charged yesterday at 14:00 to 100% and now is 07:32 with 66%.

I'm just using it on smartwatch mode and last afternoon my phone didn't connected, heart rate wrist, no OX, backlight 10%, ssoftware is the last one released (I think so) 19.10 as says the Garmin Express.

I have alredy tryied hard reset, reset to default, charge to 100% sometimes, I was thinking about replacing the battery by myself, but thinking about waterproofness I afraid off.

I saw that there is o lot of owner having the same problem, but no one with solution, that's why I opened this case...

That may be a challenging task, not only because the bezel is glued to the watch body, but also because the battery is soldered. So unless you are skilled in repairing electronics, and have the necessary tools, I would not recommend doing it. If the battery is really dead, rather return it to the seller, get the refund, and buy a new watch with a full warranty. Instinct 1st gen can be found for a bargain (less than $100) even from reputable vendors, and also Instinct 2 is often available rather inexpensive (under $200).

Otherwise, it can be also just a problem of the battery gauge calibration, which is rather common, especially after firmware upgrades. Try the tips in the Troubleshooting guide for high battery drain for reestablishing the calibration.

  • Thank you so much! I decided to return it to the seller and get the refund, I'm looking now for a Instict 2 Solar, do you know if with this newer version people are facing some battery problem?

Personally I face no battery problems with my 2½ year old Instinct 2

  • While it is true that it is an almost indestructible watch, it is not so in terms of battery
In less than 4 years (purchased in December 2020) the battery collapsed and now, in battery saver (estimated duration 56 days) it loses one day per hour, effectively lasting two days or a little more.
I asked for support from assistance considering that I bought an identical watch in the same period that has no problem (but it is stuck on release 14.x while mine is on 19.x), they replied that they cannot provide me with the downgrade, which must be sent, if I do not accept any quote they will make me have to spend € 25 to get back a non-working watch, paid € 300, lasted less than 4 years.
Used only for tracking steps, sleep, alarm clock and a few training sessions in the gym, never used connected to the phone for messages and calls, never for GPS, altimeter or compass.
