My instinct solar is shutting off randomly again. This occurred after I purchased the watch and I was able to have Garmin replace the watch. Now, outside of warranty, the watch has started the same behavior again. A quick google search shows many folks with the same exact issue.
My communication with Garmin support is less than helpful. Pay 130$ for a new watch or take advantage of the sales we have on a new model?!
" I am sorry you are experiencing this issue again. We can exchange your watch out for another Instinct Solar- tactical for $130 USD since it is out of the warranty period due to it being 3 years old. If you would like to upgrade to an Instinct 2 line unit, I would recommend taking advantage of the sale going on the website right now because that discount is more than what I would be able to offer for a trade in of your watch for a newer model. "
So the lesson is that if I purchase a Garmin I can count on it for 3 years and after that be prepared to pay for a new watch?
Some folks have posted that if they have complained about the issue more or gotten outside groups involved Garmin has lowered the price of a replacement or offered a free replacement. This is sad, so the company knowns an issue exists but will only support he customers that go this route. If you just politely inform them of the issue expecting to be taken care of you get the company line.
I am not asking for any fancy upgrade or trying to take advantage of the issues occurring with the watch, all I want is the watch I saved up to buy to work properly!
