no solar intensity

Garmin instinct solar, spent all day and mist of today in the sun and no reading of the sokar intensity. Battery dropped to 9% so lut it on charge 3 hours later it has only gone up to 25%, something is not right.

    Hello, same issue for me.
    I bought the watch 2 months ago and Solar Intensity has never worked on mine ...
    I called Garmin support and even if they think it is an hardware issue, they suggested me to wait from the new firmware update.
    12.84 is now installed and Solar charging is still not working.
    I tried everything like restart after update and did a factory reset as well but it didn't fix the issue.

    Very disapointed about Garmin on this one :(

    Hi! I have same problem with my instinct solar(. Firmware 19.10. I did all steps to fix, but still have this issue. Please help me. This is my favourite watch for all time. And i'm very dissapointed(.

    Anche a me non funziona più il pannello solare, già fatto il test accensione+tasto down e risulta non funzionante, come devo fare? Istinto solare non è più in garanzia

    I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, I would recommend trying the following steps:

    • Ensure the display is clean.
    • You will want to ensure you are not using a screen protector, as this will prevent solar charging.
    • Does any solar wattage show in the widget? If so, this is working as expected. The solar is a trickle charge, and you may not see a significant increase in charge percentage.
    • If there is no wattage in the solar widget, after being outdoors in bright sunlight for a couple hours, I would next recommend trying a factory reset with these steps:


    1. Ensure the watch is powered off.
    *You may need to hold CONTROL for up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
    2. Press and hold SET and GPS.
    3. Press CONTROL to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
    4. After the first beep release GPS.
    5. After the second beep release the remaining button.
