MIP displays are great in direct sunlight, but that's about it IMO. I've owned every fenix since the first one, and up to and including the 8. I also got the Enduro 3 (which I am returning), and had the Instinct 2x as well. The thing I don't like about MIP displays is having to turn the watch at just the right angle to the sun to see the display clearly, and at night when using the backlight, the screen is washed out at an angle (some less than others). I'm old and need reading glasses for a lot of stuff, and maybe that's why those things bug me so much.
With the AMOLED displays, it doesn't matter what the lighting conditions or what the angle of the watch is, the display is easy to read in any conditions, and even though the fonts are smaller on the AMOLED displays, I can still read them better than I can on the MIP displays. Sure you get better battery life with MIP (and solar), but AMOLED still gives respectable battery life, and to me, it's worth the trade off, and I can live with only to have to charge it once a week (with AOD).
As far as the touch screen goes... I am perfectly fine not having the touch screen, and in some ways it's better not to have it. As far as it not having maps, I'm also fine with that. I can still load a course, and navigate it just fine with this thing. When I had the Instinct 2x, I didn't like how slowly it loaded and saved stuff, but the Instinct 3's have more memory, and this things loads and saves stuff just as fast the the fenix line.
Anyway... I think it's a great watch, and i have not had any issues (so far) with it. This is only my opinion and use case though.
