Oddity while updating to 22.35

just a quick report:

I installed 22.35 over wifi and it said a couple of times that it couldn't download the full update but when I backed out to the system software menu, it showed the Install button. I tapped it and installation when without a hitch.

later, when I went to turn of "auto update" I saw another "install update" button on my phone. I decided to tap that and it went to the blue triangle screen and ultimately completed a full reboot.

Fenix 8 Amoled 51mm disapeared power on animation

After the update on 21.25 disappeared power on animation (blue triangle and animation topo Fenix 8). When I turn on the clock, the screen doesn't display anything. After a time, is turned on watchface. Reset settings does not help. What can I do?

My watch seems to be fixed now, boh triangle and Fenix animation appear. Turning AOD on/off dsn't seem to make a difference.

It is still the latest model they are offering not an old/obsolete product

An explanation why this took so long to fix would have been nice.

In their defense, the watch was working fine without the triangle and animation.

Still could have been handled much better.

Yeah, maybe, the good thing is that I saw in the "commands" screen it is still working to activate and deactivate the connection with the phone. I have the same problem also on Fenix E.

Hello,

I have a problem in fast settings and applications menu for phone conection shortcut, after the software update is opening now the phone agenda instead of the connection menu for the phone.

It was working fine before update. I'm the only one with this bug in the new software 22.35?

22.35 also adds LiveTrack per activity (finally !)

In the watch setting under LiveTrack you can now choose to activate it only for specific activities (ie. Run but not Walk).

Not sure why it is absent from the release note but it's on the watch !

FINALLY! New Smart Notification Timeout Options in 22.35

Good news (and somehow omitted from the change logs), but it’s now finally possible to configure smart notification timeouts of under 30 seconds as of 22.35. You can configure options of 5, 10, and 15 seconds! This is also linked to Focus modes, so you can configure whatever you want during an activity.

Thanks for pointing this out, this actually surprised me the other day during my run, the notification disappeared way faster than usual.

It seems the default became 10 seconds in the Activity focus mode instead of the previous 30. So when I took my time to check a notification during my run it disappeared before I could press the down button. I would not have found this without you calling this out. This would have been useful in the change logs indeed.

After the update to version 22.35 the problem has arisen again. For the development team: i would consider that the issue is related to something with the update process. Seems that it appears when the watch is updated to a new version

Hi, on two different windows pc, garmin express 7.28.0 (latest version) fail to show the content of the top field (the update and maps installation one) il watch is connected, showing instead a generirc "update to to check if updates are available. The fenix 7pro does not have the same issue.
This issue has begun with 21.39 firmware (i have already reinstalled the update from diagnostic menu): the watch is recongnized as connected and all seems to woks

Doesn't always work. My watch now will not even connect to Express unless that window is closed.

To clarify what I mean, here's some screenshots. Look at how the button corners don't look equally rounded, and how the red circle behind the flag looks distorted.

Hello,

For a watch that costs so much, it baffles me that the Fenix 8 Solar has such a poor user interface. The UI elements are clearly optimized for the AMOLED version. This is most obvious with the rounded buttons (i.e. "Edit", "Done", "Dismiss All", etc.), where each corner of the button has a different radius (that is, the corners are not equally rounded).

Other elements such as the icons for saved locations are also ridiculously designed (the icons display over something that is supposed to be a circle, but in reality it's far from it).

The UI used to be great when MIP was a first-class citizen, in the days of Fēnix 6 and 7. Nowadays, Garmin seems to be designing for AMOLED and then backporting to MIP without putting much effort into making the UI work equally well on it.

Anyone else noticed the same thing?

So now I'm confused, for me Fenix 8 never connected to power meter during multisport. In that case is it only problem with Assioma ? Or maybe it only works properly with Garmin power meter ? From other point of view I'm quite surprised that more people didn't scream about this issue ..

I have a mutlisport setup in my fenix 8 for duathlin events, and paired with my hrm and favero assioma power meter. I discovered today after finishing the race, that the watch never connected to the power meter. There wasn’t even a data screen for power.

The issue doesn’t occur if I start a normal bike activity. Also, a friend of mine had the same issue today. We both consistently reproduced the problem after the race. It only works if we start the event near the power meter, which is not practical in races.

Both of us did multiple duathlons with the same setup last year without any issues. We also tested the available triathlon activity, and the behavior is similar.

Is there a change in software that we need to adjust to?

Yes, the same case, it may not be an mistake but a modification, now you have to use the controls menu.

When I try to backdate to live firmware (copy gupdate.gsp and force.tmp to GARMIN map on the watch and disconnect the watch from PC there will not start an update. And neither find update in SYSTEM->Software Update.

I previously submitted for beta program, but now left beta program because I won't to use the ECG app.

Are there more ways to restore ot live firmware ? I do I have to wait three months for new live firmware while I cannot use the ECG app ?

Hi everyone,

I recently updated my Fenix 8 AMOLED 47mm to the latest system software (Version:22.35), and I am experiencing a bug with the phone connection alerts.

Previously, if I left my smartphone behind, I would get a disconnection alert on my watch. However, since the latest update, this alert no longer appears. Even if I manually turn off the Bluetooth on my paired smartphone, the watch does not trigger any notification.

Steps to reproduce:

Ensure the watch and smartphone are connected via Bluetooth.
Turn off Bluetooth on the smartphone.
Observe the watch: No disconnect alert is displayed.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a workaround? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
