Treadmill Calibration not working after 22.35

I have never had issues with Treadmill calibration since I have the watch for over a year.

After updating to 22.35 calibration is going nuts!. Even if I calibrate, the following run it is totally off, even after resetting treadmill settings.

Interesting the same issue on my Vivoactive 6 after to latest software 17.33.

Am I the only one?

  • The accuracy of the calibration will be increased the more frequently the watch is used with a GPS signal for outdoor activities. When was the last time you recorded an outdoor run or walk?

  • I'm sorry, but what does a treadmill in a room have to do with running with GPS? GPS is not used on the treadmill:)

  • Facing same issue here. After 22.35 calibration for treadmill does not work at all.

  •  What happens after you do the treadmill calibration after the 22.35 update? I just want to confirm that you're using these steps to calibrate the treadmill distance. If so, how far off would you estimate the distance recorded to be from the actual distance?

  • Hey. I have been following these steps for the las 2-3 weeks (since the new firmware was released) with runs on treadmill between 3-4Kms and the result is off by 70-80%

  • with runs on treadmill between 3-4Kms and the result is off by 70-80%

I am afraid it won't be any better when using just the watch. There are limits of what the wrist worn accelerometer can achieve. It is enough that you change the cadence, the speed, or the amplitude of the arm movement, and you get a different estimation. You may get a bit better results with HRM Pro, HRM 600, or with Stryd (or with the old discontinued Garmin Foot Pod), but TBH, the best way to get accurate metrics is doing as much outdoor runs as possible, instead of spending your time indoors.

  • Before 22.35 firmware, the results were off by 5-10%, not 70-80%...

  • ... err, if it is off by 70-80% (in contrary to be within 70-80%), then it seems to be really a bit too much. Sorry, I might have misunderstood, at first.

  • Could you post a link to one of the treadmill activities? Just to see whether there is not a problem with the accelerometer, cadence, stride length, or another issue with the data.

  • Thank for sharing your concern. Here are some recommend for treadmill calibration:

    • Do not hold the handrails.

    • Maintain a natural arm swinging motion.

    • Record outdoor runs with GPS to help calibrate the accelerometer to your cadence.

    • Use the treadmill calibration feature.

    • Use the same treadmill each time. If switching treadmills, complete a new calibration.
