Hello dukeskd
I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. It is true that not all CIQ faces or Face It watch faces will have a low power (timeout) face. This means that for many of these, when the watch…
Even with the Always on display enabled, and wearing the watch, the display will eventually timeout and show a black screen. This is to avoid burn. However the minimized dimmed display watch face allows…
I see. so AOD is not "true" AOD mode. That clears it up.
@Garmin-Laurie more information for you. It looks like the AOD turns off/display turns off after notifications consistently about 80% of the time. Hope this helps in diagnosing the bug.
It is designed to do that when you aren’t wearing it as there is zero need for the display to be on. Show a video with it happening while wearing it and its a different story. All watches do this to conserve battery which is totally logical.
It happens on my hand as well just not as consistently. I'll film it if more evidence is necessary. But AOD on should mean AOD on always.
It does happen when on my wrist. I've been wearing Fenixes for over 7 years now and I can tell when there is an issue with a core feature.
what you display in the video is normal behavior.
if the watch has no skin detection, the screen will turn off.
Garmin-Laurie FlowState Here is a video of the problem and with the stock watch face:

Thank you for the video. When you filmed this, was this during your sleep schedule? If so, what are you display settings set to in Focus mode for during sleep? Menu, Focus Mode, Sleep, Display and Brightness.
Thank you for your reply.
This was outside of my sleep schedule in daytime.
I have another video here where the screen displays off on my wrist:

suskozaver @7343684 for your reference...
Even with the Always on display enabled, and wearing the watch, the display will eventually timeout and show a black screen. This is to avoid burn. However the minimized dimmed display watch face allows this to show for a bit longer before turning black. There is not a setting that would allow the watch face to never turn off.
From the user manual:
Originally we were discussing why some of the watch faces have a dimmed/timeout mode, and others do not. This is currently only a function of the preloaded watch faces. And will not be a mode available on the Connect IQ watch faces.
I see. so AOD is not "true" AOD mode. That clears it up.
I also would like to know why it times out to black screen when I tap the watch. That should be a signal that the watch is in use and not to save the screen. Seems like there may be a bug here.
