Fenix 8 Amoled 47mm - Battery Drain

Hi,

My Fenix discharges very quickly. 20% per day without GPS workouts and without AOD. That's relatively high compared to my Epix 47mm.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
I hope that this will be fixed with the next firmware update.

  • It's notable that settings is a mess in order to adjust things with specific detail unclear and hidden, for example if running a course details are hidden in sections in main settings, in map settings and separate settings only apparant when starting an activity, similar with battety settings, choice of satellite accuracy for tracking and sensors

I cant believe noone has worked out how to present this in a way that is accessible, more pointedly why aren't preferences carried over like they are on android for ex

It's very poor implementation, the ability to do some of this in connect app is a big improvement but it's not comprehensive

  • The Connect App is used for a lot of Garmin Devices that are not using the same OS. It would be difficult to put individual device controls in the Connect App.

if people would read the instruction manual and become very familiar with their device many of the things you mention would be intuitive.

  • When was the last time you read instructions for Android or apple settings? I don't get why theres always a learning curve, wear os would be closest example but garmins activities etc are part of os, given touch screen it should be much easier and more intuitive than it is

  • It’s a complicated device. If you want to get the most out of it, it would be helpful to have knowledge of your product.

As for Apple, Android or Windows, I Google how to’s all the time to learn new features about the device.

I also consult Subject Matter Experts for their help. In this case, there a few on this forum who are helpful and DC Rainmaker provides some great help also.

  • is just one theory amongst many.

Well, in my case, it is what causes the problem, not a theory. And this happend with 2 different F8 I tested, first one went replaced by garmin. BTW this problem it is not present in my F5plus,.

  • Are the devices connected via ant+ giving you good battery life? If so, could you please tell me how many days and gps hours of activity before the battery dies?,

  • December/21 2024  - Fenix 8 51mm Amoled

    Beta 12.35

Battery life is way inferior when compared with my Epix 51mm , till the point I regret for not buying Enduro 3 MIPS

  • I read from others here that the Enduro unfortunately is not immune from the battery drain problems.

  • Turned off incident detection and had normal battery use. Turned it back on when updating to 12.35, and after a quick run that ended at 47% at 9AM, by 6PM of no use battery is back down to 29%. Turned off incident detection and rebooted, but seems indicative that the problem is still not resolved.

  • Dear all,

I owe Garmin an apology. I have been writing a lot on the forum about the battery drain and used pretty strong words against Garmin. So my problem has been that the drain happens when I use the Coros HR armstrap. If I don't use it the watch is perfect. So.... on Saturday I ran with some friend in my backyard. I told the about my problems. They asked if I have updated my HR strap from Coros. I did not know that I could do that. So..... I downloaded the Coros app on my phone, updated the Coros HR armstrap and VOLA everything is perfect. Sa again sorry Garmin. Hope this also can be helpful to others.
