Battery consumption 22.06

Hello!
F7pro user. Got 22.06 update and saw big difference with prior stable version, near to 10% a day with one run for hour with all sats, 1 sec recording. Share is turned off, HRV on, Pulse Ox off. Tried 17.28, it have great battery life, like doubled, but there bad accuracy with HR if I run uphill or some acceleration, 21.19 and current 22.06 is much better. Any ways to find for test 21.19 or 20.22 or only 17.28 and 15.77 is available to download? Thank you.

  • Hard reset is a reset with resetting everything to defaults.

    JFYI:

    • Soft Reset = turn off and on the watch using the Controls menu
    • Hard Reset = turn off the watch forcefully by pressing the Light button till it shuts down, then restart
    • Master Reset = Reset to Factory Defaults either through the System Settings menu, or by a key combination during a reboot
  • ... and BTW, the watch, after a firmware update may be resyncing favorite segments, maps, or other components. That's why the troubleshooting guide recommends turning off the BT and WiFi, in order to see whether the transmission causes the battery drain. If so, and if syncing over Garmin Express does not help (which is possible, in some cases), then the best is letting the watch doing what it has to do, and wait a few days till the transfer is completed.

  • I downgraded as well to 21.19 without restoring a backup. Now the battery is back to normal.

  • I try this version - it have good consumption until around 30% - after this watches consume battery very fast and I get almost same battery life.

  • That seems to be your definition of a hard reset, but not a common one.

No, it is not my definition, it is Garmin's official classification of resets, though I admit themselves changed the terminology a few times in the past. However, since a few years they consistently define it in the described way. From their Beta Program:

    • Powercycle/Reboot -Turning the watch off and turning it back on again
Open the Controls Menu (Light button), scroll to the Power icon and select it. If prompted, select "yes" to the question about turning off. Once the watch has powered off, turn it back on.
    • Soft Reset - Another term for rebooting without resetting any data, equivalent to a powercycle/reboot
    • Hard Reboot/Hard Reset - Pressing and holding the power button to force the watch to turn off. A hard reboot is not the same as turning off the watch via a system menu. If you think of your computer, a hard reboot would be pressing and holding the power button to turn off, rather than selecting the Power Down option from the Start menu. This distinction is the same on the watch: a hard reboot would be pressing and holding the power button.

Depending on who you ask, some people would say that the term "hard reset" is not interchangeable with "hard reboot." But for the purposes of Fenix software and beta testing, please consider them equivalent. If you're referring to a reset of all settings, use the term "Master Reset" instead (see below).

  • They make 23.18 with more consumption, it's a win. Mine start consume 0.37, without using GPS, looks like 0.3 with some GPS was fine at 22.06.

  • Mine went from 1% / h to over 2% /h with the new 23.18. So now it don't even last 2 days. I soon give up and move over to a T-rex 3 instead.

  • F7SPro @23.18 Used as Smartwatch: About 10 % a day, Pulse OX always on. GPS as always about 5-5.5 %/h in auto-mode, 3.5 %/h GPS-only. For me this version works very well.

  • I don't see any relevant difference in battery consumption when I do my simultaneous testing between with two units on 15.77 and 23.18 respectively and for that matter didn't saw when testing 15.77 vs. 21.19/22.06.

    Imho posted the relevant information.

While 23.18 won't become a working release for me it is not b/o the battery life.
