Battery consumption 22.06

Hello!
F7pro user. Got 22.06 update and saw big difference with prior stable version, near to 10% a day with one run for hour with all sats, 1 sec recording. Share is turned off, HRV on, Pulse Ox off. Tried 17.28, it have great battery life, like doubled, but there bad accuracy with HR if I run uphill or some acceleration, 21.19 and current 22.06 is much better. Any ways to find for test 21.19 or 20.22 or only 17.28 and 15.77 is available to download? Thank you.

  • Has anyone an update how to fix this? 8 days and the battery is empty. Tried already what was suggested in the guide from another comment. Thanks.

Including doing the hard reset and going through the full charging/discharging cycle twice? And including checking for updates in Garmin Express over the USB cable? ... and including the last hint - contacting the Support?

  • 21.19 works much better Slight smile you can download it in beta threads in first 22 beta version announcement

  • What I found after doing a factory reset is that the high battery consumption came back quickly. It seems that my F7pro does hide the seconds on the main watch face only after almost a minute of no movement. So during the day it is almost always shown. There also seems to be a different between digital seconds, which almost never hide and analog seconds hand, which does get hidden, but extremely slowly.

My solution for excellent battery consumption is switching to a watch face without any seconds display.

  • Thanks Sergey. I have experienced excessive battery drain on my Fenix 7S since updating to 22.06. Last week my watch went from 30-40% charge in the afternoon to shutting down in the evening with 0% charge. I downgraded to 21.19 and battery use has returned to normal.

I hope that Garmin is paying attention to this. I don't see any mention of fixing battery drain in the version 23 beta release notes.

  • I noticed an increased battery consumption after updating to 22.06 10 days ago. I followed the Troubleshooting guide @trux wrote, but am out of options except fully discharging (am at 38% right now), hard resetting and customer support. Likely none of the options will fix the issue:

It's related to the Bluetooth connection, as there is the known consumption from the time before when the connection to the phone is disabled. I deleted the paired phone (also in the android menu), removed the watch from Explore app. Of course I did all updates available on Garmin Express. Removed the only IQ-App installed (Komoot) and custom data field. So there is no reason for high battery drain related to Bluetooth.

I’m so tires about Garmins bad software. They refuse to add new features to the 7S Pro - I won't complain. But it would have been nice if they could at least stop adding new bugs too.

  • Hey! By any chance have you been able to solve it? I have the exact same model and the battery drains pretty fast, just six days and its gone.

  • but am out of options except fully discharging (am at 38% right now), hard resetting

You skipped the most important (and the first recommended) steps. Without hard-resetting (not resetting to factory defaults!), and without going through the full charge/discharge cycle minimally once, preferably twice, you cannot re-establish the battery gauge calibration (if that was the reason of your problems, and indeed as mentioned in the troubleshooting guide, it is the most common reason).

  • I didn’t skip. Hard reset is a reset with resetting everything to defaults. Thats what I didn't do. Of course I did the 30-sec reset - multiple times.

Battery gauge calibration won't be the issue in my case, as the consumption is as it was when Bluetooth is disabled. And as expected, a full charge/discharge cycle didn't change anything.

I can't say for sure, but it seems right now as the issue somehow may be gone. For a few days I noted a constant sync-icon when starting an activity. That was strange, as I completed the sync via Express multiple times and cleaned up the folders on the watch long before. This seems to be gone for now.
