Should I bother moving to the latest version?

I was following the normal releases until about 2 months ago when I got fed up with various issues:

- Map cut off at the top

- Painfully slow map rendering when panning around

- Turn prompts from my phone (I know this is not fixed, and don't think it will ever be fixed)

At which point I downgraded to the last version that didn't make me want to sell my F7 Pro SS and move to another company, 16.22. But I cannot install several apps like Minutecast because they require the latest version. I can also not send locations to navigate to from Apple Maps.

People who are still tracking the latest version, is v21 worth upgrading to?

  • I'm still on 14.68 as it's the most stable version available as far as I'm concerned. I still do Map updates and delete the latest software update before I disconnect to ensure it stays at 14.68.

  • delete the latest software update before I disconnect

    That's what I do too.

I kept my main system on 15.77 because before the night vision mode was broken for Tactix. Otherwise 14.68 was probably the most stable after the 10.44 disaster with the 15.77 being not to bad either with some minor issues (mostly display with wrong units (ft vs. meter) or w/o units at all) but stable over all with reliable sensor readings.

  • A am still on 17.28 and closely looking into every "stable" update (meaning no beta). So far I did not have a feeling that I wouldn't loose some of the features actually working good.

But hopefully there will be a fw that is worth upgrading, the Garmin attitude is awful!

  • I was super reluctant to as my battery has been stable for the most part. There have been 2 instances where the battery had dropped about 50% overnight though for no reason. Pulse Ox off, no activity....was very strange.

I just updated to the latest version and the battery is a touch better...only lost 5% over a 24 hour period including 1 hour of non GPS activity. Normally it's at least 10% for a similar day.

  • While I have a lot of issues with 21.19 which led me to decide already that I won't upgrade my live unit from 15.77, battery life is not among them. While it's to early to give exact results (the big ones having a lot of battery life in belly and at the moment I'm busy testing 21.19 against 15.77 simultaneously and thus playing around way more than under normal conditions) I dare say it is at least as good as in 15.77. No complaints with battery life in 21.19 from my side.

  • : as for your initial question: another reason not to upgrade

Don't worry, discussion is in English the Question notwithstanding.

  • I went to 16.22 last November and have been watching for a better version for battery life and read some positive things about it in a few places so I upgraded and am happy with 21.19. I did a fair amount of battery testing and haven't run into any bugs that I know of. I just had a look at the newest beta and there are a fair number of bugfixes in it already so Garmin does appear to be putting more effort into QA vs new features.
