Software Sync Failed / can not install Etyp 2.30

Tactix 7 Pro 19.41 / Epix 2 Pro 19.41 (problem applies to BOTH)

When using "Check For Updates" via Wifi, the watch downloads a couple of packages, but always ending with "Software Sync Failed" in red. In the Explore App, I can see that it wants to download "Etyp V2.30". Any ideas what causes this behaviour and how to fix it? This has been going on for a while (months) - regular system updates and stuff like aviation DB updates for the Tactix DO come through successfully. Unfortunately I can't use Garmin Express since I currently do not have access to a laptop running Windows or iOS.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

  • Hi,

this version is 2 months old, i can share the files with you but not sure that put in /Garmin/RemoteSW/ is the right process, otherwise the files will be ignored. If you are interest contact me by DM here.

    20241119 - Etyp - 2.30 (was 2.20)

    • Component ID - 006-DA699-00 & 006-da746-00
      • Seems to be relevant to EPO, satellite
    • Filenames
      • da699000d.sid
      • da746000d.sid
  • Thank you for your kind offer, socorsu. But there seems to be a bigger problem behind the scenes. Discovered some map updates (in this case for example Topoactive Hong Kong) - updating maps via Wifi seems to be completely broken for me. Always results in a "Map sync failed" message in red. I've browsed through the forums and tried several suggestions, including deleting garmindevice.xml and using the hidden menu to reinstall the software. None of that fixes either the Etyp or the map manager problem.

Won't touch a working watch for now and will wait for the 20.xx update. Given the state of things with Garmin's recent software quality level, I'm not holding my breath for any fixes, though...
