Battery drain on 18.14

Also the highest voted Bug from the beta forum is not fixed and now we have again wait the next few month for a fix:

here some observations that i've made the last few times:

  • After a reboot battery consumption is normal, round about 4-5% a day without GPS use
  • If i do an activity with GPS use the battery consumption with GPS is normal - ca. 3%/hour - I have done Racebike riding, running, walking, hiking
  • After the activity is finished the battery consumption jumps to around 10% a day and stays there until a reboot is done.

So for me it looks like there hangs something after a activity with GSP

  • Be pushy at your local customer support about this, direct them to the message of  at forums.garmin.com/.../1832925 and make this issue really visible

  • Hello,

I'm also experiencing an unusually high battery drain in idle since updating to 18.14, at least 10% per day without counting GPS use. Rebooting the watch after an activity like mentioned seems to fix the battery consumption, I have not tried the other thing with an indoor activity.

Please fix this, I don't want to reboot my watch after every activity! I don't care about new messenger apps or whatever, just don't break the basic functions please xD

  • They absolutely need to push the previous firmware out with a higher version number so we can all go back.

im not convinced a reboot or non gps activity truely solves it. Mine is still going down 2% every 4 hours!!

what was 21days plus with my settings is nothing like that now more like 10!

  • It is so easy to just fix it copying from the 8 series… unbelievable we all have to reach to local customer support when you can read here all the affected folks

  • Wow. 21 days? I never get more than 5 with a 7sSS, but it's down the less than 3 with the latest firmware.

Stock face, 40% brightness, touchscreen off, about 1-2 hours GPS activities per day, PulseOx off, phone always connected, but quite a few notifications (messages, calendar, etc.).

  • Well, this is a users forum where garmin staff occasionally reads about it.

I am not talking bad about their efforts, but if theres a Forum Mod, that tells the Product Manager that there might be a problem, thats not the most effective lever for our site.

But if a few dozen users keep nagging the Support Centers about an error, that escalates really more quickly on other management lines to be recognized as a substantial error. Since the Support Center usually also ask about your watches serial to prove that you are a customer, that has such a watch, not just a nagging forum troll.

Just my suggestion do put pressure on garmins management to get our fix more quickly... but do whatever you feel like

  • I keep phone off. Do a bit less exercise than you. Touch on.

    mine is the 47mm pro.

its kinda why I bought it in part.

  • I also noticed battery drain after update. It loses 3% per day with BT, WIFI off, only HR is on, all acessories scan are disabled. I updated via Garmin Express. Fully charged, hard reset. But to bi honest my 7X never had linear battery drain. I usualy charged it to 80% and start charging when dropped to 20%. It hold for about 10-12 days. I'm only wearing it during activities, around 10hrs per week GPS for running, All Systems for trail running.

  • same issue here on 18.14! Huge battery drain after an activity with GPS. Fix this immediately Garmin! Unacceptable that it takes this long for a fix for such an expensive watch.

  • Ben - have you tried this?

im happy to wait a week or two.. but if it’s going to be months then we have to give it a go I think.

ive downloaded in case garmin pull it off their server.
