Battery drain on 18.14

Also the highest voted Bug from the beta forum is not fixed and now we have again wait the next few month for a fix:

here some observations that i've made the last few times:

  • After a reboot battery consumption is normal, round about 4-5% a day without GPS use
  • If i do an activity with GPS use the battery consumption with GPS is normal - ca. 3%/hour - I have done Racebike riding, running, walking, hiking
  • After the activity is finished the battery consumption jumps to around 10% a day and stays there until a reboot is done.

So for me it looks like there hangs something after a activity with GSP

  • Sounds great, that's such a severe issue that Garmin has to set highest priority for all their software developers, daily reports to users of progress. No one leaves the company and sleeps there until this problem is fixed. That's the only way to earn back some of the trust people might had in Garmin.

  • Experience similar behaviour today. After the update everything worked fine, after a walk 2% down now in 2 hours. Normally it's 2-3% in 8 hours.

Can I go back to 17.28?

  • Experiencing same issue AGAIN....1:1 behaviour like during 17.xx months ago - reason why I left Beta...no issues since then.

Now 18.14 live same sh** again...WTF?

Most reports on battery drain and Garmin did not care or mention anything again!

Also no releas note saying that massive drain was added as a Feature! Fail.

My F7X does not reach promised estimated battery times anymore!

  • I moved back to 17.28, but I got same restarts while cycling aso on 18.13FW. There are so many bugs everywhere, even in GC Android. But I don´t have time and patience post again and again with no effort of repair from Garmin. If there was any other watch on market, which can be connected to Varia radar and powermeter, I´ll return F7Pro s... and buy that.

And I was thinking of buying Edge computer... I guess, that after that I will be on the verge of committing suicide Slight smile

  • Well, I wrote to Garmin support again with a copy of my last mail. I've asked them to tell me when major issues will be solved. If they cannot say that or they don't want to solve issues I've asked them to write me a statement that the software is broken and they won't/ can't bugfix so that I can claim back my money from the retailer.

After that I can switch to some better device! I'm so fed up with this company!

  • I see that.

I was happy with 17.28. Is there a way to get back?

  • There should be a way to move back. Search the forum for it people told me. There are some users offering the older firmware versions here as far as I understood.

The problem I have with that is that I don't install firmware from other people which could have been manipulated since I use Garmin pay. If I would not use Garmin Pay I would have tried to move back to 15.xx which seems to work fine for some people here.

  • That's what a user answered me. But that was in the Epix Pro forum. Don't know if that firmware works for a fenix since the Fenix and the Epix could have partly different firmwares due to the screen hardware:

Find the user socorsu in here (look thru threads in epix 2 and Fenix 7) and email him for older epix pro firmwares. Then do a forced update roll back. Be it 14.68 or 15.77 or 16.22. or whatever older version  you want to roll back to. ( I say either 15.77 or 16.22 ) Keep in mind you gonna lose newer functions implemented from that version to  current firmware

As for Garmin support, they did warranty replaced my hrm pro plus and watch band. So my experience on that was good.

I totally get you on the part with reset watch n other pointless stuff tho.( I went thru that when I wasn't getting Lactate threshold updates for 6 months or so . It turns out the reset n all other stuff I did were pointless as it was a firmware issue !)
