What features does the Fenix 9 need to have to make you upgrade?

Since the release of the Fenix 8 is imminent close and the related feature discussion is closed, let's start over:

Hey everyone, with the Fenix 9 takes a glimpse far, far away on the horizon, I'm curious—what would make you excited enough to upgrade? Whether it's better sensors, longer battery life, or some totally new feature we haven't seen before, what would make the next Fenix irresistible for you? Let's get a discussion going and share our wishlists for what we hope to see in the next generation!

Please also take the point in time with a good sense of humor, we're in a user forum to share thoughts and also have fun, right?

  • So far, "sat IQ" has been designed to conserve the battery. So if the watch "thinks" it is sufficient to use GPS only, it will do so. But I would like to decide for myself what is sufficient. To be able to classify this
I would like to see the constellation on the screen.
However, I don't want to hijack this thread with the GPS topic. This thread should be about a wide variety of ideas other than GPS.
I am looking forward to more ideas on what features a fenix 9 should have :)

  • Well, if I may add three more little details then. These are more inconvieniences that mess up my OCD than anythign else, I absolutely love my Fenix.

    1. When you create an event, you indicate what activity type it is: running, trailrunning, hiking, walking. Once set, it cannot be changed. Then, when you do the activity, the type of the activity you choose has to match the type of the event, of you cannot link them up.IE if you create a runing event, and decide to walk instead, you cannot link them up. A bit more flexibility here would be appreciated,
If you mainly exercise in a (sub)urban area it might be difficult to grasp the issue, so here is an example: connect.garmin.com/.../13997346913

People participating could be selecting activity type walking, hiking, trailrunning, running, trackrunning, ultrarunning, it would all be correct - same course, same event.

    2. There currently are two walking activities: casual walking and speedwalking. Could we please also have treadmill walking and trackwalking?

    3. Once an activity has been completed, you can set the event type to 'race', 'recreational', fitness', 'geocaching', etc. There is however one big one missing: work! As a postie that walks a lot (and uses my watch to track my routes), I find that annoying.

Well, that's it. Just annoyances, just details. Love your work, Garmin!

  • Lol. But enjoying life is a great health contributor as well, no? :P

  • There is already an indoor walking activity.

  • There currently are two walking activities: casual walking and speedwalking.

Why can't I find speedwalking on my watch? There is also no fit file for it.
Would you be so kind as to copy the "speedwalking.fit" file from the watch's "sports" folder and put it online?

How's does track walking differ from walking? How does speed walking differ from track walking? Aren't these all just.. walking? I feel like this is a little like asking for both a jogging and running activity.

FINISH THE *** GARMIN FOR ME TOO

Epix 2 Pro is a disaster. No reliable data. It’s just *** at $1000. Garmin, it’s over for me too. Apple, Samsung and Huawei are much more reliable.

  • How's does track walking differ from walking? How does speed walking differ from track walking?

Track walking is walking on a 400m track. There is also track running.
Speed walking is walking, but at a much faster pace. It differs from normal walking and is closer to running than normal walking.

By the way: would you be willing to share the activity profile "speedwalking.fit" from the "sports" directory of your watch? Strangely enough, it is not available for me.
    I would be grateful :)

I don't have speed walking unfortunately. You can just "copy" the walking walking activity and rename it to speed walking on the watch itself. Likewise with track walking.

Thank you for looking it up !

Unfortunately the tip does not work. Even if you rename an activity profile, it is saved as the original activity in connect. The activity type is decisive for Connect. Not the name.

Maybe someone else has the "speedwalking" file and is willing to share it.
