Just got the invite to install the latest patch. Lets see how this is doing. Did a hard restart as always but will only charge it to full tomorrow as it's late now. Share your experience here.
Please fully charge your watch and full drain your watch and double check your settings before reaching the conclusion of fast battery drain. Thank you. We appreciate it.
Troubleshooting Steps That Can…
The company needs a top down reform when it comes to their software game. Apple may not be there just yet in regards to a Garmin replacement, but they are now on the radar.
I am rooting for Garmin, but…
While I wouldn't know what Bennifr replied to you I have an idea in which direction the reply went allthough it was probably not acceptable put and thus deleted.
I' m not sure whether
Hey Guys,
I don't think I am having this problem, but out of curiosity... how do you monitor the discharge in your watch?
Is there any native function that shows how much it discharged since last charge and which apps are consuming more of the watch battery (like the ones we have in our phone)?
I can see that there are some app in CIQ, however I don't want to download anything from CIQ at the moment (afraid of getting battery drain issues).
I'm also experiencing fast battery drain.
Right now, I'm:
- SW 9.37, hard reset after update
-.Standard watch face
- No bluetooth/wi-fi connections
- no activities
- no pulse ox detection
- HR pulse is 24/7
-Disabled strava segments some days ago
And I am loosing 12% per day. Seems to much, a battery charge lasts me 7 days maximum in this condition
Ok, I now looked at how my watch behaves since 9:37, and with the latest Beta that I got accidentally. No difference between both. My drain during workouts has slowed down, however I see a bigger drain after a workout. My 7s uses about 5-6% battery per 24hrs including battery saver at night and lots of other energy saving measures.
A 30-60 minute GPS activity drains about 5% without music, segments or external sensors and with the smart GPS select thingy quite reliably.
After an evening GPS activity I often see another drain of about 3% (this is now 3 hours later) and potentially more later (not sure whether it's throughout the night when battery saver is activated or also the coming day), and I have no idea what for. It's almost as if the drain during workout is not fixed, but the drain display has been fudged to give the impression that the problem is fixed. Ok, and less conspiracy theory, as if something seems disable after the workout but isn't. I don't see this excessive drain when I don't do gps activities.
Thus without GPS I get about 5-6% drain
With GPS activity of 30-60 minutes I get 5%, plus another 3 post workout and 5-6% base drain. However, this doesn't seem to happen every time, and it seems more likely to occur when the battery is getting emptier and less likely when it's still rather full. With 5 GPS activities I get just about 7-8 days out of the watch, while it used to be 9.
So.. no idea.
I have similar experiences. My watch was always draining about 6% per day (about 1h of gps and 1h of no gps workout per day). But since 9.x looks it's draining faster when tracking activity, GPS or not. And the same as yours, faster how battery is getting emptier. It's like battery gauge is not calibrated properly.
Btw, with more features, like HRV, it's logically to expect more battery drain. And battery is not getting younger either.
You don't have a 7s, right? Because 6% drain per day with gps activity is not what mine is doing. That's more like 14%. Without activity it's about 5%. Watch type makes a huge difference here.
Some more data: last night after my workout I was at 16^%. 3 hours later when I went to bed and battery safer kicked in at 13%. This morning it's 11%. With currently 3hrs of GPS activity time left I won't be able to do my long run tonight. The only difference to before the 9.x update was that I was using multiband GPS all the time, and since then only with automatic switch to it when signal not good enough. I installed an IQ app that measures battery level during GPS activities (makes no difference to drain) and I can see some fluctuations on drain in the app. Unfortunately I can't follow on the map where these higher drains are, and the fluctuations don't really show clearly on the website. Would be interesting to see whether a higher drain already happens at the same locations.
