Fenix 7S: Weak notification volume and vibration

On my Fenix 7S, both the vibration and volume of audio chirps for auto-lap, HR zone alerts, and workout stages (during intervals for example) is so weak that I usually miss the alert altogether. I don't run with headphones, and frequently run in the woods/off-street so pretty quiet environments overall, and I still can't hear them.

For background, I recently upgraded from a Fenix 5S and I have owned many Forerunners of various models over the years. Never had this problem with any of them.

Is this 7S a bad unit, am I missing a setting, or is this just how the 7S model is?

  • The same has started happening to me today on my Fenix 7s.  Faint vibration and sounds like ratting from the watch face… I’m going to contact garmin

  • I agree.  I come from the garmin 935 and never missed a beep.

Now on my F7S SS I miss 50% of the lap summary's and during my today's workout I missed the start/end beep of a nesoftwarew phase twice.

I hope garmin could solve this with a software upgrade

  • I have the same problem and have since I got the watch a year ago. I called Garmin and they said to find someone who sells the watch and compare it. I went to a local store that sells the Fenix and it was just as quiet. It is much quieter than my Fenix 5s and I often miss beeps when using run/walk alerts.  I wish there was a way to increase the beep volume but not that I know of. I did notice the alarm seems louder than the alters during an activity so to me that says the beeps could be louder.

  • Same story with 7X, coming from 6x, the volume is so low. I'm relying on the sound not only in training but also for Varia notifications and with this volume it's really hard to hear the notification of approaching vehicle.

  • Exactly same experience here :-(

I came from a 645 and never missed the alerts using that watch.

And it seems crazy that apparently there is no seeting to make it louder...

  • The same to me, i buy a new 7S after unboxing, I test some features at the store and found that the "beep" tone when alarm went off very small no matter what you have in settings. The sale staff ask for recall it and I decided to upgrade to 7. The tone more louder. It's like all 7S have very small tone alarm.

You should consider to return or upgrade.

I have notice that, the tone and vibrations on F7s occurred at the same time. But on F7 it's taking in turn, first vibration and then "beep" tone. Because "beep" tone create by Piezoelectric speaker, I'm not sure but vibration create by vibrator could eliminates vibration create by speaker if it occurs same time.

  • Thank you for your reply - I will try to get an in-store demo of the sound level of the 7 and then maybe upgrade :-)

  • I am taking my newly purchased Fenix 7 pto back for a refund. It does not look like any fix will ever come to increase the volume. Fenix 8 sound is great with appropriate sound controls.
