Check out open source maps. I have downloaded country specific maps from TalkyToaster and from Frikart.no. These are not only per country, but also with better details outside of cities. 

Frikart is donation based. TalkyToaster is for a reasonable fee.

I use OpenTopoMap Garmin Maps. These cards are also for free, can be downloaded per country, and are very regularly updated.

Yes, but your link says that installation on internal memory is not recommended. Have you already tried to do so on Fenix 7?

As your Fenix does not have a SD card slot, you can ignore this (old) recommendation. 

This has been requested many times by different users and Garmin did not even reply to the suggestion. 

It would significantly improve watch/maps usability for some users.

Having to use 3rd party maps for device of 1000 EUR is very unfortunate. 

1. My group in Facebook has a page for all the compatable map links for our watches in out announcements section...country specific too... and more detailed than the standard inbuilt garmin maps.

You only can download the maps like Garmin they offer and to install only one or only the needed country maps is unfortunately not possible. It was already suggested a lot of times, but Garmin has not added that possibility so far. A real map manager/Express should be able to offer this! So you have to spam your memory with Garmin country maps you will never need/use or have to download third party osm maps (which are often more current). I think Garmin should think about it and just add the possibility…
