Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar Constantly connecting and disconnecting

Hi,

I've only had the watch for 4 days, but already I'd like to throw it away...

Every day, sometimes once and sometimes several times a day, the watch gets into a state where it is constantly disconnecting and connecting to the phone. The watch just connects and then disconnects in 2-5 seconds and then reconnects and then disconnects again in a few seconds and this goes on and on forever.

Turning the watch off and on doesn't help, it keeps happening afterwards. Turning off and on the bluetooth on the phone doesn't help. The only thing that helps is restarting the phone or removing the watch from Garmin Connect and pairing it again but neither of the things help permanently, in a few hours the watch gets into a loop of connecting and disconnecting again and then I have to restart the phone again or remove the watch from garmin connect and pair it again.

It always happens in the morning and sometimes during the day.

I previously had Garmin Fenix 6 PRO Sapphire that worked without issues with the same phone! The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Thank you

  • Same issue here with Fenix 6 Sapphire and Samsung S21.  Thought I had it figured out (related to changing pwd on home network)  But, alas, happened again this AM.  Did I read correctly that there will be a patch/fix coming in early May??  **frustrating**

  • no patch confirmed, yet.

it was only confirmed earlier in this thread that there will be a patch.

Please see the statement seen at the very top of each page beneath the original message posted. Thank you.

  • This happens to me, when Connect IQ app and Connect Mobile are running at the same time. Closing Connect IQ app background process solved it.

That must be it! I've terminated Connect IQ app and now the connection seems to be stable - the "Connected" status is now displayed continuously without changing to "Not Connected". Also editing data screens from the app is now working smoothly without any lags.

In fact I've never used Connect IQ app with Fenix 7X but it seems it was still running in background. I've uninstalled it for now.

Garmin, please pay attention to this!

  • Hm... I don't know what is Connect Mobile which @bluefish mentioned but terminating Connect IQ app does nothing for me, it's still in a loop of connect/disconnect.

Connect IQ is a garmin store for apps.

  • I've uninstalled the connect IQ app but the problem still occurs for me.

  • Another user with this issue.  First garmin device and very disappointing. iPhone 13 Pro.

  • Proving definitively, Samsung is not the issue. Garmin software is. Whats egregious is they've known about this through at least 3 watch iterations and have done nothing except to put fir a plan to deprecate notifications of a premature disconnect/ reconnect...ratger than fixing the causal faors. Shame shame Garmin.

Yes, indeed. Unfortunately the issue still persists for me even though initially it seemed that uninstalling Connect IQ app did the trick.

I still have the situation when my watch fails to sync, which I usually notice after finishing a run. If I go into Garmin Connect app at that moment and look at the watch status, I can see that it repeatedly tries to sync, disconnects, reconnects, tries to sync again and fails again, and so on.

One thing that really seems to help is to briefly disable Bluetooth on my phone, then re-enable it again. After that the watch syncs from the first try.

But the problem seem to go beyond syncing. For example, I often see that the number of steps, stress, and other data may be several hours old on my phone.

  • Definitely Samsung is not the issue. I've used Samsung phones since 12 years and Garmin Fenix 3, 5X, 6X Pro and 7X. Fenix 3 had some problem that it was disconnecting and consuming power like mad while trying to connect again. That was resolved and I don't have other problems later than. Just sometimes some heavy app usage kills the Garmin Connect services running in background and that causes disconnected and connected messages. This is rare but happens from time to time.

Check if your phone RAM is free enough and Android not killing the Connect Mobile app constantly.
