What does Store HRV mean?

To calculate HRV or Respiratory Rate, R-R peak data are required, as far as I know. On my Fenix 6, there is an option «store HRV» Some Garmin Watches. require you to download enable_hrv_settings_file.fit that you copy onto the watch to store HRV. Is this the same? And can there be found a .fit file with R-R peak data on the watch induced by this procedure, a file, which can be used to calculate HRV or Respiratory Rate?

Yes it's the same. An ANT+ HRM will send RR data all the time and during an activity, the watch will interpret it for respiratory rate and HRV as an input for Firstbeat analysis, but won't record it unless…

Yes it's the same. An ANT+ HRM will send RR data all the time and during an activity, the watch will interpret it for respiratory rate and HRV as an input for Firstbeat analysis, but won't record it unless you set that option. If you do, the RR data are recorded in the activity file. They're not logged outside activities.

I am very happy to have the R-R peak data on my Fenix 6, and don t need an extra smartphone with for instance a polar sensor and a polar sensor logger app.

Is it possible to get the R-R peak data with an older Garmin watch, too, with «enable_hrv_settings_file.fit», as it was described in the Fellnr blog about HRV?

Does someone have experience with it?

If you want to make use of the R-R data from your activities Runalyze will plot it and show the usual stats for HRV.

I have a Fenix 6 Pro and haven't come across this option. I have a HRM-TRI I use for all activities and would love to have HRV data for my workouts. Where can I find this?

I created an account in Runalyze. Wow, that much data!!!!!

I didn't have much time to learn all the things that exist there, but there's 1 thing I already noticed: the VO2max calculations have totally different numbers compared to what the Garmin watch shows: Garmin 46-48 ever since I have the FR245 / F6 but Runalyze shows 30-38, except 1 race where it shows 56.
