What´s new since FW 10.10 ? I miss my 6X Pro

I returned my 6X Pro after fw 10.10 arrived since I wasn´t happy with gps accuracy, pulse accurracy and gps connection speed. What have happened in firmware since then? I miss the watch, it was good but not worth the money when that point failed. A friend showed me his FR 745 and it was really accurate. I was hoping that the 6x could be the same after some fw updates. Is it?

  • You're going to get a lot of replies on both sides. People like me, who have very few issues. And others, who do have issues. This is going to be a diverse discussion..... The problem is that this forum will never be a good representation of the actual issue as there are so few users compared to the total Garmin population.

Personally if you like the 745 and don't want maps, go for that. If you want maps, toss up between the 945 and the 6. Me, I have very issues, run in mountainous hilly terrain and find my watch acceptable. Are you a long distance runner, cause if not, the 745/945 may be a better option ....

  • I´m more into cycling, walking and working in the forest. I guess 745 isn´t the watch for me since i also prefer the golf. 945 is an option but the think bezels makes me look on the 6x pro instead. The only thing is sapphire vs standard glass and scratches is forest.

  • I have a 6X Sapphire. And like I said, I have very little to fault with it. Ohers have had GPS issues, altimeter issues and some pace issues. I find mine works fine. But people with things that work fine tend to shout less about them then people with broken things!

A screen protector would protect a 945 just well. If you're not into the distance and the endurance, a 6S Pro/Sapphire may be a good compromise.

Know anyone local with a 6 to test?

  • I find the GPS to be fine, but I'm also not the sort of person who goes back and checks every run to make sure I'm shown perfectly on the path etc. You also get posts like this one from yesterday where the new owner is obviously very upset by the GPS performance.
So it's a hard question to answer really - one person's "The GPS is fine" is another person's "This is utter Garbage"

The one thing that I don't think anyone can dispute about the F6 still is the "Pace" data is useless. It's up and down all over the show.  You need a footpod for accuracy here, which is a shame.

I've always found the Wrist HR to be accurate, but for running I have a HRM-RUN to get Running Dynamics (do they help? No, I don't think so)

I look at this way: The watch gives me metrics enough that I can easily see my improvements (or decline!) and to know what I need to do to get better.  The maps will guide me if I ever get really lost.  For me, this is more than enough accuracy and I'm happy. But for others, if the data isn't perfect, that's a big deal. If you're that sort of person then maybe the F6 still isn't there yet.

  • That´s the type of issues I saw. And it´s a big deal for me. If it´s that bad, i could use the phone instead.

  • No, I have not seen the smaller ones live actually. I remember that sapphire made the color look different.

  • With pace, I use either a) 6 second smoothed pace field (for longer runs) or b) a cheap footpod for shorter ones. Instant pace is problematic, but for me anyway its not a deal breaker.

  •  I found a friend with 6S and it doesn't look better. Sadly. I guess they aren't any better but I expect more from those prices.
