Battery issues after update 19.20

After updating my Fenix 6X to version 19.20, my battery is draining extremely fast. I took my watch off the charger at 0600 this morning with 100% and by 1400 it was already down to 70% charge. Before the update I would maybe be at 97%. I haven’t even used the device to track any activity, listen to music, and my pulse ox is turned off.

  • Good one, I'm lying to promote a free watch face that I use, tell another onw.

  • For me factory reset did the trick. But have to mention that pulse is now off.

  • This sounds more like a plug for an ugly watchface than a genuine post.

    Who you callin' ugly?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming...

    Wink

  • apps/widgets still running that deplete the battery.

I don't think it's possible to run any apps or widgets from the watchface?

I never said a watch face could run an app or widget, my comment was relating to a app or widget being launched and maybe still using resources after you have closed/ended it.

After using the GOLF app, I'll always shutdown my GF6XPS by pressing light button for at least 7 seconds to make sure nothing is running in the background.

    Cheerz ;^)

  • Cumon guyz, battery drain is either faulty device battery or apps/widgets still running that deplete the battery.

I'm currently using FW 20.00 and noticed no exceptional battery drain no matter what FW version I use.

I run a watch face called GLANCE, I generally only use 3-4% battery a day when running no additional widgets or apps.

    https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/07ae0f49-7240-4475-a229-4507e8035fae

After using GOLF app, I shutdown by pressing LIGHT for at least 7 seconds, recharge to 100% and loose around 3-4% per 24 hours.

Try GLANCE, best WF available and it's continually being UPDATED and IMPROVED. Please DONATE..

    Cheerz ;^)

I posted this because I find Glance WF gives all of the info/data I require and it seems to be very respectful of battery usage.

If you want a lot of bells and whistles running like Pulse Ox etc. running providing info, you have to expect battery drain.

My previous GF6XPS that was barely 12 months old was depleting the battery for no reason.

I'd charge GF6XPS to 100% before playing golf and battery remaining would be be 88-92% left after closing GOLF app and restarting watch, but when it started showing 55-60% battery remaining, I contacted Garmin Support and they promply replaced with a brand new GF6XPS and battery drain is what it used to be.

  • Drain tracking update - 22% in 2 about 2 days, only 1 hours GPS usage.

58% battery used since charging to 100% 4 days ago (100% charge Thursday 25th, 42% remaining Tuesday 29th)

Battery drain actually has improved randomly over last 2 days, 11% per day which is actually OK.

  • @ as i say in my previous posts after i reinstall maps from GE after reset my battery i think is ok now. i don't know if is coincidence

  • I do not actually use maps much at all too be honest - I cannot see how that could be responsible for battery drain as maps only are displayed during an activity if such a data page is selected. But in watch mode like in my photos, then maps cannot be running so cannot (should not!) be parsing the map data in my view.

Probably a coincidence. And many devices have drain that do not have maps at all - for example standard Fenix model (non Pro / non Sapphire)

I can think of a possible scenario where perhaps a file would become corrupt then drain would occur (multiple read attempts), but I'd hope an embedded system would be robust enough to handle that....

  • Fenix 6x pro, 1 year; 19.20 version
24/11/2021 23:00 100% and disabled Oximeter during the day, only in the night.
    25/11/2021 25 minutes running
    26/11/2021 25 minutes running
27/11/2021 2 hours MTB with BT chest sensor and cadence sensor
28/11/2021 3 hours 40 minutes e-MTB, with BT Chest sensor and connected to all sensors in the e-bike
    30/11/2021 25 minutes running
    30/11/2021 15:00 9% Battery
Live track enabled it sport activity

Receving lot of messages, and emails on the screen, can't remember the name of the watch faces, but the most popular with lot of information,
for me is not too bad how the battery is working after I disabled Oximeter during the day.

  • @ are you happy with that result? with 16.70 4 hours every day on my bike was 15% every activity (included:tempe, cadence and speed sensors plus psi sensors)
