Garmin Tempe and fenix 6 Solar

I've left my battery in my Tempe (and hence, powered on) ever since I bought it. It's still using the original battery. According to my Amazon purchase history, I bought it in October 2019. So it's been powered on and using the same battery for 20 months now.

As mentioned above, it's a VERY low power device. It only transmits a very low-power signal one time every 60 seconds.

What's crazy, though, is that even with as low-power as it is, my watch can pick up its signal from over 50ft away somehow.

Love these things.  Have multiple sensors on running shoes, hiking shoes, and MTB so I always have one available for any activity

I have somewhat different experiences. I have one and always found it quite power hungry. Even removing the battery from time to time, it lasts less than 1 year. After replacing battery for the third time, I stopped using it altogether.

I never paired it to the Fenix, though, even though I don't think it makes any difference. I only used it with an eTrex.

I leave mine permanently with a battery in, and I use it every day with my running activities. I think in 2 years I've changed the battery twice. Outside of activities it's not connected to the watch

A pedant writes: it sends two different messages alternately every 2 seconds, but updates the temperature reading once a minute. If it only transmitted once a minute, it would take your watch a quarter of an hour to lock on to the timing if you were lucky

But yes, amazingly power efficient.
