DND no longer stops gesture backlight

Since the last update, DND mode no longer prevents backlight from turning on with gesture.

Is that a bug or a feature?

Very annoying, especially if you go to bed earlier than your schedule, or if you want to turn off gesture quicklyfor some reason...

Spot on. I have sleep time set up but yesterday I went to bed early.

What I used to do is set the watch to DND and voila, no more backlight.

From a previous beta post (these are Garmin's words below):

Fixed an issue where ‘Do Not Disturb’ prevents gesture backlight from working during the sleep window.

This is when on DND before the sleep window kicks in.

This is what I did last night. But you can forget about sleep tracking then.
Either the old situation, or better still: having the ability to configure backlight while on DND is needed IMO.

Doesn't matter. Since I'll only be affected by the backlight being activated in the dark, it makes sense to have it at a low intensity. Setting ti to 5% although barely discernible during daylight is bright enough to see when dark without being dazzled by it's brilliance.

Even when I had it set to activate using gesture during sleep at 5% it was not like trying to get to sleep under a searchlight. I just did not see anything gained by having it activated by a gesture when it's just as easy to hit the Light button. Hence why I don't have the Backlight on in any setting during sleep.

Why? Sleep tracking still works with Battery Saver (assuming you are not turning HR off).

Yep just edit the Battery Saver settings for WHR to 'Do Not Change' - assuming you have WHR on of course.

Oh, I didn't know that. Everything is off when I use battery saver, I didn't realise you can change that behaviour. Thanks for that!
That looks like a good way for me to handle it then. For now I set my bed time earlier.

Still don't like just changing behaviour to disagree with their own manual though, and ideally it would be configurable.
I see the backlight coming on as a disturbance, which doesn't really fit the label of DND well.
