Indoor Row Connecting to Concept2 FE-C as "Trainer"

Hey all, just wanted to point out that my F6 Sapphire is doing ANT FE-C discovery on Indoor Row - is there an expectation that Indoor Row should be pulling power, stroke, or speed data into the activity from this?

If so, that'd be amazing in the future, just saying : )

Concept2 ergometer is a perfect way to measure VO2 max. It is often used for that. There is likely a ton of precise measurements that coaches already…

Yes, that would be amazing! I've also noticed that couple months ago, after they added FE-C support. But it doesn't do anything with the rower, it can only pair. I also think they focused on FE-C, control part, where you can set targets for the trainer, rather then getting actual data back from the trainer/rower to the watch. But one can always hope.

But you could be able to define a training for the rower and have a rowing activity selected? the trainer should then send data back to the watch like any other indoor trainer e.g. for a bike does send power, cadence and so on.

This was discussed couple times. Garmin ignores Concept2 rower and skierg. In principle, it would be possible to get power, speed, cadence etc from all three Concept2 machines but Garmin does not do anything in this direction. COROS just added support for Concept2 machines. Which shows you that it is not Concept2's fault.

I'm waiting for such support since 2014 when I bought my rower. Wrote couple times to both Garmin and Concept2 ... Still hoping that one day ... Maybe now with a bit of pressure from COROS.

It‘s impressive how coros developed their watches, like native runningpower support, the ability to use the Concept ergdata etc. , and this for half the price.

But maybe Garmin is working in an integration, like those pictures could show us..

TL;DR: contact Firstbeat, Concept2, and Garmin and ask for this feature. Frankly, it's been talked about so long I'm doubtful there's a will to do it but maybe we'll be surprised... in a decade or so.

COROS did it.

About 2 moths ago I told COROS support that it would be great to have data from Concept2 trainers. First they said not possible .. etc. So I poked them again, told them that Concept2 is actually very responsive and will help them (which I believe is the case since I had several very good discussions about this with their tech support) ... and guess what? Their recent update has support for power from C2 machines (rowing for sure)! Native, no app etc.!

Of course maybe COROS have already worked on it when I reached out to them and did not want to say .. but what if they indeed implemented everything within few weeks?! Well .. either way! COROS shows that it is possible! That Concept2 is sending the right data over ANT so the ball is on Garmin's side!
