Should I upgrade from version 9.00 to 11.10?

Hi folks,

I received a Fenix 6x Pro today (bought second hand), and it currently has the 9.00 firmware. I see that version 11.10 is sitting on the watch waiting for me to install.

Question is do I do it?

I've been looking around the forum to try to understand if the latest version adds more problems than it fixes or not, but I can't tell. The decision would be easier if I could find a repository of old versions, to allow me to rollback if I needed to, but I can't find one.

Be great to hear thoughts from other users on which of the two software versions has the least issues, or pointers towards a list of bugs per software version, if that exists.

I can confirm that it wasn't an issue on the two F6 Pro models we have in our house on 11.0. And it's not an issue on 11.75b

going by the forum and threads you may realize that for some Garmin F6 is working perfectly and for others there are crashes,scratches and problems..

so in a nutshell it remains a game of luck and chance.. for example, I faced issue with abnormal battery drain in last public release and so did several others but then there are seveal others who haven’t faced that issue.. and i believe both may be correct..

so take ur chances :) and see which side of the arguments you end up falling..

I had the battery drain issue. I got a replacement last week from Garmin, with firmware 9.30. It now works fine. For the moment i have disabled auto-updates. I will eventually install the new version, because if the culprit it is indeed the firmware, I want to know it while I still can return it again.

If the watch with firmware 9 is working correctly there isn't much reason to take the risk and update to 11.10. Now there is a beta for the last version that adds some new features. Once we had an official release, it may be justified to update. Or, if you can return the watch, it may be better to update it as soon as possible to know if you have the issue and return it.

It also depends on your plans. If it goes wrong, you may not have the watch for a month or two. Would this ruin your plans if you have any race, hike, etc.? Do you have a spare?

I have also experienced battery drain issues with the latest firmware. I know it doesn't effect everyone so it's a bit of a crapshoot if you'll have problems or not. Since there is a beta being tested right now it's likely there will be a new firmware update soon so if I were in your position I would wait unless you are having problems with 9.00 or there is a feature in 11.10 that you need.
