Garmin Courses Announcement and Komoot

Yesterday Garmin announced a new and updated Courses API as well as partnerships with Komoot and Strave.

I can't seem to find any information about how to get Komoot to transfer courses to Garmin Connect. I assume this new api allows Komoot to directly send courses to Garmin Connect, just like Strava and no longer require the on-watch Komoot app to be the middleman.

Unfortuately, I can't seem to figure out how to get Komoot to integrate with Connect? It doesn't show up as a partner app in the settings and my courses don't transfer to Garmin connect. I know Komoot is properly connected to Garmin because my runs are being automatically transferred back to Komoot.

Anyone know how to do this with the new method and bypass the on-watch Komoot app?

Try disconnecting the two accounts and reconnecting them

Can’t get routes to sync from Komoot either. Accounts are connected ans route sync is on, but no routes are showing up in Garmin Connect.

Try to edit and save the route in komoot to see if syns.

Nothing in GC after editing or creating a new route in Komoot.

Did you buy the map covering the area of your route ? All routes in "paid maps" areas are transfered to GC instantly, routes in "unpaid" areas will show in Komoot, but not transfer to GC.

Well that probably explains it. I seem to have failed to understand that the following sentence in the Komoot article means you have to have bought offline access to the map in question.

"You need to have access to the maps of the region your Tour will start in."

It didn't register when I was reading because I wouldn't be using Komoot to navigate anyway.
