Backcountry Ski App in Versio 5.0

As to point 1 and 2, I added it on the watch itself (the big green 'Add' field) and there it was, with the right icon.

As for the Switch Modes: I guess that has to do with this screen. It's the first thing I see when entering the backcountry ski activity:

The mode switch will me the changing from climbing to descending et vice versa I guess.

Thank you for providing the pictures. I finally managed to get the right app on my Fenix. It seems I had an old version (maybe from a former beta firmware) which prevented the new version to become active. After removing the old app and adding the new one it's working like on your pictures.

I'm glad they added this (I saw it in the 4.67 beta).

One small tweak I'd like to see is better protection of the "lap" key to switch between climbing and descending modes. I often hit lap by accident at some point in other activity types while trying to scroll data screens, but other activity types will let you turn off the lap key and access the lap functionality through the activity options menu - Backcountry ski will not.

Mradici - this should be the best activity type for ski mountaineering, or skimo/randonee racing. "Backcountry skiing" or "ski touring" seems to be the preferred terminology in the USA but all of these terms describe basically the same thing (skin up, ski down). Mountaineering might imply more remote or with some objective other than getting the highest quality ski descent, while racing is racing.

So happy, that they finally include now this aktivity! (Although it seems to be not fully supported by Garmin Connect on my iPhone yet - No symbol for example)

Agree. I also often hit the lap by accident. 

--> There should be at least a confirmation menu step to confirm the change between ascend and descent.   

The same mistakenly lap button press, happens in triathlon app. It changes sport and it messes up the activity. 

can someone post the activity .fit file from the watch?  I downloaded one version, but it's got the same issues as what's mentioned above.

For this reason, I turn on auto-lock during activity. Nothing more frustrating than finding you've accidentally hit the wrong button in the middle of a long activity. You can then set a hot-key to quickly unlock when you do want to hit lap or stop.
