After updated from v.20 to v.21, the battery usage was 1.1% per hour. After cold restart the battery usage in the last 20 hours is 0.3% without any activities. Everything seems to be OK.
Yes. While it is still early days my battery usage seems to have got back to where it was on V19. V20 was eating my battery and the while the latest beta improved it, it was never quite as good.
This version seems to have sorted it so far.
My battery drain also doubled since the update from 5,5%/day to 11%/day. What do you see as a cold reset, switching the watch off and on?
Press and hold the "Light" button until the watch switches off (aprox. 15+ seconds), then start it again.
I agree. V21 downloaded friday. I had a 30 minute activity and watched my watch go from 92% to dead in 2.5 hours. Without activity it lasted less than 12 hours.
Try cold restart.
As it turns out the battery drain is an issue for several users. Garmin has a group ticket to fix this issue. Apparently I cant fix it on my end. I did do the restart twice but it didnt fix it. If you are having issues have Garmin add you to the service ticket.
I have my third Fenix 5 now for almost a year as the first two of them were replaced under waranty due to huge battery drain in combination with the corroding pin is (they completely disappeared). This last watch finally has a very satisfying battery of around 5,5%/day. I alway use the ActiFace facewatch on all watches I had, so using a third party watch face. So even with this watch face I have a good consumption. Till V21 appeared and was installed on my watch. Normally I have auto update turned off, but apparantly now it was on again. Battery consumption raised to 16%/day and I thought; Garmin did it again... But after 2 recharges the consumption came back to the 5,5% again, I keep my fingers crossed. I made a backup of the GUPDATE.GCD file V21 in case a future update might ruin something again, at least I can downgrade again to a working version. I had the same issue with my Edge Explore where the last version 5.20 triples the consumption, so I keep it to 5.10.
I have the same problem with my fenix 5. I hope they will release a new version soon and fix the battery problem. With the version 21 the battery consumption is almost 20% per day just looking at the clock for the time, without doing any sport.
How do you do the ticketing?
