Screen washed out 5X?

Hi all

Just got the 5X in the mail yesterday

One of the things that I am noticing is that the screen is nowhere near as clear as it is on the garmin site

I put the same watch face on the screen and compared it to the one the garmin site the one on the site shows a deep rich black and a vibrant color to it whereas the one I have is really washed out

Is this normal?

Very normal. Take it out in the bright sun along with your cell phone. Which can you easily read? :) For indoors, etc, experiment with different color combos for things like watchface, and find something that works for you in your conditions.

Very normal. It's done for activities done under daylight. In daylight that display is perfect. For nifht activities it has backlight. Due to memory in pixel technology screens and low level hardware of the watches screen color support is low too. Fenix 3 series had display with 16 colour support and Fenix 5 displays support 64 colours. No issue as they're not produced to watch HD movies. :)

Those watch faces on the Garmin site are probably optimised - with black point adjustments - to look really nice. It is a bit like how the meat in the burgers shown at pictures in the fast food places always look larger and more juicy than the ones they serve you :-)
