Fenix stopped recording gps data?

Today my Fenix decided to stop recording gps data, meaning that my ride for today shows only duration and heart rate. Distance, speed, altitude, route...none of these are showing up on the recorded data.

I have gps+glonass on as a setting on my watch and also used the map screen for a little while during the ride. The watch showed my position during the ride but apparently did not save anything.

Anyone else had this problem??

this is a bug I've experienced over the past year and garmin refuses to fix it

I think it has to do with too many files saved on the watch, not how much total storage is used

I did a hard reset and restart of the phone and it seemed to fix the recording issues.

I have a similar problem. Apparently random during an activity the watch starts showing the watch face. It records duration and heart rate, but no position and no distance while the watch face is on.

Yes, I have a similar problem. Apparently random during an activity the watch face shows instead of the activity screen and the gps stops recoding. The rest of the activity data are recorded. Didn't figure out what the cause might be.

Yes, I have found a solution, I have changed the watch face. Apparently after the last watch OS update, the one I was using (Style Face) began to do some updates that required it to take over the process. The Crystal face for instance works fine.

Mine did this yesterday, re-paired the watch with phone and restarted the watch, see if that works next activity.

Same problem on my ride today. Zero distance data. Had my heartrate and power (Vector 3 pedals). So weird

you can delete the last activity and then start a new activity and it will work until you start a new activity

it may fix it by deleting the hundreds of old files in \GARMIN\SLEEP and \GARMIN\MONITOR

for some reason the watch does not clear them out, even if months old

I've had a similar problem over the last couple of weeks. It records a run perfectly in terms of time, mileage, etc. but when I view the map or elevation, only a fraction of the run has been recorded. It's as if there was no GPS for 90% of the run, yet it recorded the correct distance and time.
