5X glitch / mysterious altitude drift

Hey there!
Had anyone of you also had these spontaneous changes in altitude readings?
I was just sitting at home (yes I know, that has to be punished somehow...:rolleyes:) as the altitude started to climb up, and it still is...

The dents in the graph are from tryiong to set the altitude by gps again. It didn't help as it started to rise again.

What can that be and how do I stop it? I already tried switching the device off an on again, no effect.
This is exactly the same behaviour I had on my fenix 3 and that was why I returned it.
Now I have the same again, but for a lot more money...:mad:

Pressure changes due to the weather and temperature changes of the device it's self can make it think the altitude is changing.

Has the weather outside changed much in that period or the temperature of the fenix unit it's self?

I've been sat in the house all day today too and I'm seeing a pretty flat altitude chart on mine.

No, there is no weather change. Indeed the world would end if such a pressure drop would happen :o

The altimeter readings are in meter, not in feet.

Okay, now I'm at 12000m... it keeps rising, the ambient pressure shows 226mbar. The Temperatur at my wrist indoors shows 16°C. I guess the hardware must be severely damaged. By what I have no idea :(

Hopefully you have some supplemental oxygen with you

I'm moving form my F3HR to the F5X partly because of this issue (and for mapping and a newer device with development support).

Well, In fact I also returned my F3 because if these erratic jumps and went on to the brand new F5x. And what can I say: since 3 hours I'm floating between 11000 and 14000 meter, with a wrist temperature of 18°C and 220mbar.
This watch seems to be the most expensive crap I ever bought :mad:
With my F3 the glitches took max 30min. But now it's crazy since 12 hours. All calibrations failed so far.
I don't know what for I paid 900€...:mad:
A crystal ball would have come cheaper and would give me better values and more reliability....

Uh oh... just wait till winter and see what happens with cold weather. I have a bad feeling about the altimeter issue across the Fenix line of watches.

So far (2+ weeks of use) I have not seen any drift, even with weather events moving in during my runs.

Cross thumbs, I do not have these issues at all. I also returned F3HR because of altitude issue. I have worn F5x during skimountaineering activities with changing temperatures and no drifts at all. Hope this will last 😊

Fenix 5 altimeter errors

My Fenix 5 is about 3 weeks old. Was working perfectly then the altimeter went crazy. I am at 1515 meters above sea level and it is now reading 13000.
I know these devices well and have done all to correct it.
I have sent pictures and run plots to Garmin.
Will keep you updated but fear the worst. Units are faulty
Also temperature now showing as -112 degrees centigrade and it's actually about 17 degrees.
