Fenix 5 plus powers off randomly

My garmin fenix 5 plus goes dead at random times. Sometimes when I'm sleeping, other times just after exercise, a few times during. I've always got full battery and it never switches back on immediately. It's becoming unusable. Garmin have offered a refurbished unit at a price but it feels like poor value for the money I paid. I saw many others have the same issue and recently Chris from Garmin said there was some troubleshooting to go through. Has anyone successfully sorted this issue?

I have the same problem with my fenix 5. I took it to the technical service here in Chile and they don't offer me a solution. Please help, I want my watch to recover or Garmin offer me a solution

I am sorry there is an issue. If the Chile Service Center was not able to resolve the issue, the issue will most likely not be able to be fixed. I am sending you a Private Message to double check everything you have tried. I will be happy to help as much as possible.

My Gamin 5 plus has started to switch off randomly. Seems like only way to use it is to do a hard reset. Don’t want to do that every few days. Is this a software issue or hardware?

It can go both ways. Depending on the cause of the issue, you might be able to resolve it with either form of full reset to default options in this Support Center article.

I’m having a similar issue with my 5 plus. Started as a random shut off issue during normal wear and during running activities. Now I believe it has something to do with faint rattle when you shake the watch. I can make the watch shut off repeatably after a decent shake of the wrist. Not sure if this is a failed internal sensor causing a shutoff, or if this is possible software related.
