If I understand right, after this last update the sync failed?
Because that's what has just happened to me. I have selected Update Downloads and it ended with error Sync Failed. Tried second time didn't even start. Tried third time, the watch restarted!
Tried another time, failed. Only after "fiddling" with Spotify app (read I have set the one Playlist that has changed to Download to phone) it synced, even though in a funny way (adding the % as usual when suddenly completed after some 50%).
EDITED 4/15/2020: - Spotify issues should be resolved for both the iOS and Android versions of the Connect Mobile APP.

ORIGINAL POST:
There was a new version of the Garmin Connect Mobile APP released April 7, 2020. Please update through your Android Google Play store or Apple iPhone APP store and try your Spotify Music APP again.
Stil waiting for it to test. The current version in the Google Play Store is 4.29 from 31/3. Probably takes longer to review.
