Will there be a backcountry skiing app on fenix 5 as the fenix 6 recently got in latest fw?

As the heading says. Backountry skiing app/skimo app. Hope this app finds its way to the fenix 5 also. Fingers crossed Garmin_ODQA

I am using the XC profile but I do XC skiing as well and it goes into the same category, even though I’ve duplicated the profile and renamed it, and that’s not nice for statistics. I also have to manually…

Yes, I'd also like to see the 'Backcountry skiing' activity available on the Fenix 6 made available on the Fenix 5 Plus. It doesn't need any specific new hardware, and it ability to separately track ascents…

Yes I also have always missed a ski touring profile. Would be great if Garmin could provide that for the 5 plus series....

I use the hiking profile but what is not really satisfying..

Why don't you just use the cross-country skiing app? What would be the difference in terms of what you expect the watch to measure and process?

I would just be pretty to have access to it, because it exists so why not.. I can live with it, but it would be nice. Even my old Polar V800 had it YEARS ago!

From what I understand, you're just annoyed that there is no such Category "Backcounty" within the watch as one of the "profile" and that you need to manually change them in strava.

There's really nothing special about any special data or statistics within the app correct? Just the Profile name to map in Strava.

Yeah all data I could ever need is displayed and stored. Well the Garmin app thinks I’m doing only XC, since I’m using the XC profile, when’s there’s really a mix of BC skiing and XC skiing, but I can live with that since I mostly use Strava. It would just be nice to know how many tours I’ve done and how many XC sessions I’ve done in a season, but now they’re bunched together in the Garmin app. I’m not sure if it displays calories the right way either and if the real backcountry profile does that better, but calorie data is not really trustworthy either, but still fun to track!

Ah.. cool. Hence just the profile. Have you considered the Connect IQ Store for apps?

Yes I’ve looked around but haven’t found one with good enough reviews. All custom made things for the ways seems way worse than the stock version. Even data screens get very pixely.

haha.. why choose it based on "good enough reviews", just download and test them out. For the way it looks, I agree.
