Anyone else use their 5+ for golf? The shot tracking feature for me has not worked for months reliably. I have sent quite a few FIT files over the Fenix team and they report they cannot reproduce the issue.
Anyone else have the same problem?

I do have the same issue. It used to be much better in the past.
Yep it used to work well. A few months ago something changed and it has become useless now. Shame.
I've had the same problem fairly consistently with the 5 Plus that I recently replaced under warranty. Some days the auto shot seemed to 'kick in' and work consistently, but on most days it's hit or miss. I'm a long-time Garmin user and tech support professional, and I've been following all of the guidelines without much luck. I actually just sent in my watch for a replacement because of this issue as Garmin is adamant that this feature works and the accelerometer is likely to blame. I have yet to take the new watch out on the course but when I do I'll post an update.
I am looking forward to your feedback and findings!
Played again today using v7.55. It was the usual awful mess. Only 1 hole detected a drive, most holes only detected shots around the green. Tee and fairway shots nothing. This feature is useless.
Anyone know if the Forerunner 935 or 945 are any better?
I'm having the same issues with my new watch. Tee shot detection is very sporadic. The funny thing is that when I talk to Garmin about this, they claim that there are very few bug reports about this issue and as far as they're concerned it works fine. I'd recommend officially reporting this in the hope that they'll actually recognize the problem. I know people with the newer dedicated golf watches who have the same issue so I don't think the issue is confined to the Fenix.
I reported a few weeks ago and have a outstanding support ticket with Garmin. Not much progress apart from them saying they cannot reproduce it.
I wish they'd provide a manual measure shot feature to handle situations in which the auto shot didn't detect it. Measuring shot distances -- especially off the tee -- is one of the most important features I need as a golfer.
guys, same here.
I never liked the "auto shot", and i repeatedly asked for at least an optional "manual shot" measurement, like in all other Garmin devices.
I was somehow getting used to the "auto shot", but indeed it stopped working, i guess it detects one shot out of 7 or 8 with the newest firmware.
I tried to log several ticket on this matter but garmin "refuses" to think about this....
Suggestions?
I’m sending mine in for a replacement. Although reading other replies this maybe pointless.
Not sure what to do. The feature simply doesn’t work and Garmin refuses to accept that. Swap to a Forerunner 935 or 945??
