Maps do not have routable roads during hiking or trail run activity

Hello !

I am annoyed after some updates which change our preferences automaticaly.

Why Garmin team in 2026 cannot keep our preferences ? It's not the first time.

Right now, I have serious problem with navigation when you choose "Go back to your start point' during Hiking or Trail run activity : It says "Maps do not have routable roads"

I was in the forest and It was dangerous because I trust my watch to get back me at home. I was often using this option

Why it says you're not on routable roads when you're in main forest path or official hiking road. Only car road are working while you're hiking or trail running !

I cannot figure out how to find it. I lost maybe 1 hour !

Please help me ! I will be in Mont Blanc in two weeks alone.

  • Kudos on calling their bluff and actually doing the reinstall. Installing maps is so painful that I’m sure they tell you to reinstall them hoping you won’t bother and will then leave them alone.

I’ve had this same issue since around March. I’m on a trail, I *know* there’s a way to get home, but when I say Route to Start it tells me “No routable roads”.

Pity that after their reply to you they haven’t bothered to forward the problem to their software department. This is obviously a bug that they need to fix. But it’s par for the course with Garmin. Good hardware, *** software, absolutely no empathy to the customers who are paying their salaries.

  • Ever considered that if nobody bought new watches there would ‘t be any refurbished ones for you to buy?

Maybe stop the smugness. It’s annoying and doesn’t help anyone that has the same problem the poster described.
