Smart Trainer Control

Hi there,

I have a problem controlling my Wahoo Kickr Snap via the watch. The watch detects and connects to the trainer. Starting a virtual ride works. The power seems to come through accurately. However, if I load up a course, the watch tracks it on the map/elevation and displays the applicable gradient, but the resistance doesn’t change, even though the watch seems to think it does. IE, +5 gradient is the same resistance as 0.

Anyone with further experience on this?

It will likely be the origin of the course being used. If you made the route using a GPX file or manually created it using Garmin Connect or many different 3rd party options, you should be good to go.

Hey there, I’ve tried both courses that were uploaded as a GPX as well as created on Garmin Connect and the issue remains.

What is the origin of where you are creating the GPX file and then syncing it to your watch? The end result behavior of your trainer is suggesting the course is missing the elevation data so there is no resistance change for you.

The GPX came exported from Strava. But it behaved the same way (ie, not adjusting resistance) through a course created on Garmin Connect from scratch. The watch displays the changing grade, but doesn’t seem to affect the resistance. Sometimes I phantom-feel like something changed (ie, going from 1 to 10 grade) but looking at the power, that’s just me spinning faster. Am I right in thinking that the grade is % gradient?

Grade is normally only a rating vs. gradient would be the elevation. More research will be needed since you continue to have an the same issue. I am sending you a direct Private Message to gather more information and continue troubleshooting.
