  • Looks like Enduro share the same software with fenix 6. Interesting...

  • Looks like Enduro share the same software with fenix 6. Interesting...

Certainly not the same software as my 6X (different ANT/BLE/BT):

    • Software Version: 15.71 (a3ef418)
    • M/N: A03560 IC: 1792A-03560             FCC ID: IPH-03560
    • GPS: 5.00
    • Wi-Fi: 2.60
    • CIQ: 3.2.4
    • BMX: 1.0.2
    • WHR: 1.00.02
    • ANT/BLE/BT: 6.11
    • Sensor Hub: 8.00
  • Of course it's not exactly the same software. But how can a new watch have a 15.71 version software? So, block some feature from fenix 6 and add few for Enduro, done.

"fenix 6 15.71 Change Log Notes:

Adds step counting to backcountry ski ascents.
Improves functionality of navigation features with Explore.
Fixes issue where podcasts may not display correctly on device."

Why try to "Improves functionality of navigation features with Explore."? Enduro doesn't have map. Enduro only have POINT-TO-POINT NAVIGATION.

  • From a firmware feature perspective the Enduro has exactly the non-pro fenix 6 features. It could have been named “fenix 6 standard with solar glass” except that it has a unique lower watt processor than its siblings as well as apparently a bit more milliamp-hr battery capacity. All within the same external case dimensions.

This “navigation features” change might be an awkward phrasing of fixing the breadcrumb navigation regression that fails to display waypoints in the non-pro fenix 6 firmware.

  • notice "with Explore" at the end/. Explore is an iOS/Android app that can be used for navigation. I read this as an improvement to the communication between the watch and that app via Bluetooth.  The Enduro watch is listed as compatible with the Explore app. buy.garmin.com/.../010-EXPLR-00

  • Of course the Enduro and fenix6 share the same software. Some features are different, removed or tweaked for the Enduro but the base lis certainly the same, so is it between the fenix6 and forerunner 945.
