Creating a Course

I noticed that the ability to create a course directly on the Enduro 3 is missing. It was nice to be able to quickly link multiple waypoints together into a course. It was a feature I used quite often. My watch generally has much better battery and better maps than my phone and Garmin Explore. I've had this feature on my old original Epix ( the square one ), and my Fenix 5X, but not on the new watches. I understand that your current list of work with the new watches is quite large. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. The way it was worked just fine.

I don't own an Enduro 3, but it looks like you can create a course on the device. At least per the manual.

Ya that's the expected behaviour, but when I enter the Create a Course menu I only get 3 options:

Round-Trip Course
Activities
Sight 'N Go

The options "Coordinates" and "Use Map" are missing

I'm seeing the same issue as you.

After a bit of playing I found both the co-ordinates and use nap options, but they are one level up....

To find them go to Navigate then scroll down past Create Course and you see both options you are looking for

I am aware of those options, but both of those are for navigating to a single point. They don't actually allow you to create a course. Creating a course and adding points a-b-c is not possible as far as I can tell.

Yes, you are correct. Comparing the manuals between the Enduro 3, and the Fenix 8, they both have omitted the option to create a course using added locations. On my watch, which is the epix (Gen 2) I am able to create a course with a series of locations. If it's something you want, you can request it at Share Ideas | Garmin

Personally, I rarely use the create course feature on my watch, as I find it much more convenient to use the course creating function in Garmin Connect, then send the course to my watch. But I can see the value of being able to do it directly on your watch if you were off the grid or didn't have your phone with a cell signal.

You're exactly right. I use my phone where it is practical. From a reliability standpoint I try not to rely on my phone. I've been in situations where it's been raining heavily enough that the touchscreen on my phone was impossible to use, or when it's too cold for my phone's battery. I know waypoint navigation works fine. It's just sad to see the watch navigation get less powerful. Thanks for taking time to reply.

I cannot understand why Garmin has deleted this option, especially because this is an outdoor watch for long term activities.

Update September 23, 2024:

This has been reported to our engineers. They are working toward adding these additional course creation options with an upcoming software release. Thank you for your feedback!

In the mean time, you can still add multiple course points when creating courses through the Connect app or Explore App.
