Disabling sounds/beeps system wide not possible

On the Enduro 3, which lacks the Fenix 8´s speaker, disabling the beeps completely is not possible. You can enable and disable the sounds for buttons systemwide and the vibrations system wide, but cannot do the same the sounds system wide. You can enable or disable sounds for smart notifications, sure, but not for fitness notifications like move alerts and system alerts like phone disconnect alert, even according to the official manual.(1)

Quite a strange decision. Now, I have disabled most of system and fitness notifications completely and thinking about going back to my older forerunner. Not being able to disable all sounds and beeps is not only annoying for me as a teacher in front of classes, but also distracting during their lessons and a bad example as I forbid using/reacting to phones and wearables in the classroom.

  • Same here. Must be missing setting option.

Further more Gesture lighting after sunset for specific activities is not possible. This menu item is missing.

Plus the text size in 6 datafield view in activities is not the same size in every field as it was on 7. The top one is too small.

  • Just wanted to say the same thing. The first thing I normally do with all new devices is disable all sounds. I don't like having it beep and everyone looking at me when I start an activity.

  • I'm absolutely baffled. I came here after a Google search cos I thought I must not finding it for some reason. I bought it and didn't even imagine such a basic function such as ability to disable sound alerts during runs would be a question to ask! so now for every run I'm getting a sound alert for each mile like or not, or else disable auto lap and miss pacing analytics? This is just ridiculous.

Garmin these are your loyal customers. Please at least say you're gonna fix this. I'll keep it if eventually you'll fix this.

  • Same here. I always disable the sounds of my watch. Has this bug or missing setting already been reported to Garmin?

  • Has this bug or missing setting already been reported to Garmin?

Have you reported it to Garmin?

  • Hello. I can confirm that there is not a volume or mute option on the Enduro 3. So at this time, there is not a way to entirely disable tone alerts. However, since this was an option with the Enduro 2, I have reported this concern to our engineers. So hopefully this can be included with a future software update.

  • Garmin-Laurie

Thanks, but exactley the same issue appeared with release of 7X.

So i kindly ask your team to lay 7 and enduro 3 system side by side and fix the missing stuff.

Its really Irritating whats actually happening software wise cause you have to dive into a new faulty software system:

Text sizes, menu structure, missing notes from apps although activated, nap counter, weak vibrations in activities...

When will you get the second Patch Released?

I am asking cause at this time i would be able to return the watch.

Sorry for this harsh words, but this release was definitley not a good start.

    I appreciate an answer.

    Thanks.

  • Seems this happened because:

    1)  Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 are all using the same base software code

    2) For devices with a (fully-fledged *) speaker (Fenix 8) a volume control was added. (Obviously Fenix E and Enduro 3 didn't get the volume control as they don't have a fully-fledged speaker.)

(* a speaker that can do more than beep)

    3) The only way to silence *all* beeps, even on Fenix 8, is to mute the volume - the old setting to disable beeps for alerts was removed. (Presumably this was done to streamline settings?). But that means that devices without a volume control can't silence all beeps.

So the problem is that 2) was correctly applied only to devices with a speaker, but 3) (related to 2) was applied to all devices.

I feel like this is a risk inherent with sharing code between multiple devices. I can see the benefits, but this kind of bug seems almost inevitable. (Yeah it's easy to say that in hindsight.)

  • Its all about cost saving. But that doesnt work with two different displays. You cannot adapt text size from amoled to mip. The beep issue is a known problem which hits every release.

    That are all forseeable issues.

Sorry. The watch does cost 1000 Euro and above.

I have no understanding for this horrible it project work.
