Backlight on keys and touch does not work

I have set backlight on keys & touch and gesture on after sunset.

Gesture works as expected, but touching screen or pressing buttons do not activate backlight.

I am sorry to hear this is not responding as expected. Does this time conflict with your sleep schedule? If so, watch are your display settings for during Sleep Mode?

Update September 25, 2024:

Our engineers have identified a concern that keeps the touch screen and keys from activating the watch face, after sunset. They have released a fix for this with the latest BETA…

I completely agree, in fact I’m sending mine back today for a refund. I think I’m going to hold off using Garmin at the moment.

I have mine boxed up and it's going back tomorrow or the next day. Its sad, I really loved the weight of this watch and how it felt on the wrist. I may come back round in a year or so when they have all the kinks worked out.

No problem here with my watch. It works as set up and as intended. I have backlight on keys, on gestures and on touch even after sunset. Backlight also works on buttons in night focus mode, like intended and set up.

So, the issue seems to be for some of us only. I wish you that Garmin will solve it fast though.

I am having same problem. It must be a sw bug.
I have also another one. If i want to enable touch for maps only, it does not work

I'm having the same issue, with backlight set to be on after sunset, it never works.... if i have it switched to 'on' it works fine.

Seems to be a bug?

Ive replied on a related forum too but will clarify some points here. My touch activated illumination does not work either when after sunset is selected. Do not disturb is off. Tried at night time and also before my designated sleep period. So it's also nothing to do with sleep settings. I am familiar with garmin watches and therefore certain that this is a fault that needs correcting by garmin.
