Enduro 2 and no calibration option after running on a treadmill

Hi.
Yesterday I ran for the first time with Enduro 2 on the treadmill. I had the HRM Pro Plus belt too. I ran over 10 km. After stopping the activity, the watch did not offer me calibration. I also did not have the "Calibrate and save" option. To make matters worse, the watch calculated that my run was 1 km longer, so the pace was much better and now the watch suggests faster workouts!
My HRM has set pace and distance in indoors. Autocalibration ON (but auto calibration is outdoor only I think).

I didn't have my hands on handrails.
Should I set something or run first time without HRM? Any idea?

I had no problem with Forerunner 255 I used last spring. But then my first run on treadmill I did without HRM Pro Plus as I bought it later as I remember. I run with HRM later and I could calibrate every activity on tradmill.

  • So how the *** does calibration work?

It is based on the calibrated stride length, the cadence, and other Running Dynamics data. Unfortunately, you can run with the same pace while using different cadence and different stride length, which is then challenging or even impossible for any algorithm to estimate the true pace right. You have to try keeping the change of cadence and stride length appropriate to the pace change.

Yes, I know, it is challenging as well, but after some experimenting you may find the right way. Or just simply run as it is natural for you, and calibrate the treadmill run each time. In the real-time, rely more on the treadmill display than on the watch. Ideal would be if Garmin watches could pair with treadmill's sensors, but there does not seem to be any generally established and widely accepted standard for the treadmill data, so we may need to wait a bit more till it happens.

  • I prefer outdoor but sometimes treadmill is not so bad or I have to due to bad weather. I think I have to leave with that. Of course calibration must be available every time.

It's best to focus on your training: pace & time/distance shown on treadmill and heart rate from the watch. Pace graph in Garmin Connect, when I use different cadence and stride length during a run, will show strange data, not so useful like taken from outdoor activity.

  • Ok, I feel obliged to reply with an update: After my last treadmill session I scrolled down all options and surprisingly found the "Save and Calibrate" option. Even though I ran with my HRM Pro+ without any additional setup, so... for me it is working. I admit that I had to miss out this save option for the first time as it didn't appear on my display at glance. Regards

  • I think you didn't miss it. I also didn't see it on my Enduro 2 after first treadmill activity.
