18.14 Firmware - Weight Lifting Bug

So, Garmin previously had an issue where it would round sets of xx.5 lbs up to the next whole number.

This was reported fixed with the last firmware. However, now it is just picking random increments to round the weights for sets up or down.

Example

18.5 lbs for the set got changed to 18.4 lbs

40 lbs got rounded to 39.5 lbs

This next one is not a new bug, but still annoying. If I have a set, say push ups or pullups set to "body weight" the watch will populate it with the weight of the last set.

Example

The previous set was 70 lbs, then I do pushups set to "body weight", but the watch shows x reps at 70 lbs when I finish that set

  • Version 18.14 is on Enduro 2, Epix (Gen 2), Fenix 7, Tactix 7, Marq 2, D2 and Approach S70. So, you are good with Enduro 3, since it runs a different firmware (11.64).

  • Yes, I had the Enduro 2, but decided to try out the Enduro 3. The screen is brighter and sharper, and the new UI is a little bit of a learning curve, but the more I use the new UI the more I like the changes. The weight rounding issues from the Enduro 2 are not present on the Enduro 3.

  • I installed 18.16. Same issue. Garmin emailed asking me to do the same. No mention in the release notes that this is fixed. I'm also a bit curious as to why there are so few discussing this specific problem.

  • Not sure. I would think there are more than 2 people who track weight training via their Garmin's.

So far the issue hasn't repeated on the Enduro 3. I know that doesn't help with the Enduro 2.

The only issue so far with weight training is the sets that use "body weight" carry the weight over from the previous set. That has been an ongoing issue on the Venu 2, Venu 2 Plus, Enduro 2 and Enduro 3.

  • Product support wanted a new video using firmware 18.16, which I've submitted to them.

FWIW, I also performed a full master reset of the watch, because I felt this request was coming Grin

    I’ve submitted a new video to https://supportforms.garmin.com/en-US/form/file-uploader/

I used a test workout that is 5 lb. increments from 105 to 200 lbs.

As mentioned earlier, the weights that are off and reduced by ½ lb are 105, 110, 125, 140, 145, 160, 165, 175, 180, 195.  There are probably many more weights that are wrong, but this is all I tested.

    Since the last video:

    • Watch is now on firmware 18.16
    • Performed a full master reset of the watch
    • Created a new test workout from Garmin Connect mobile app v5.6 and sent it to the watch vs using Garmin Connect Web
  • Something I noticed today: If I go to Strength Settings and turn “Edit Weight” off, all the weights are correct as configured in the workout. However, I want to be able to edit the weight during the exercise if needed, so this is not a setting I prefer.

  • May I add what I observed in weightlifting/strength with my Enduro 2?

If you switch off Rep Counting Auto Set does nothing. If the former is switched on, the latter is fine.

  • I received an email from Garmin Product Support....

We released a possible fix for the strength activity weight issue your ticket is open for. You can install the beta now to see if it works, or wait for the public release of this software version. If you do install the beta software, please report back to me if the issue is resolved or not.

I enrolled in the beta program which then prompted my watch to update to version 19.27, which I did. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

    • Sept 2023: Initial support case ref 25436155K1. Software ver 14.31
    • Sept 2024: Another support case ref 28238176K1. Software ver 18.14
    • Nov 2024: Ver. 19.34. Issue persists.
    • Dec 2024: Ver. 19.41. Issue persists.
    • May 2025: Ver. 21.19 Issue persists. Even though...
Fixed strength activity weight being changed on the rep edit and weight screen.
    • May 2025: Again, notified support and they are again actively working with me to resolve.
  • I suppose the beta fix is about just the weight issue and not the one I mentioned.

  • Correct. I recommend contacting Garmin directly regarding the issue you're having.
