Working Pressure--Significance?

Related to my previous thread of "Air Consistently Reads 500psi Low?"

What is the significance of setting/changing the "working pressure" on the MK2i?  Does this inform or affect the calibration of the readings provided by the T1 transmitter?  My working pressure is set (default?) to 2900psi.  Now I'm wondering if that is contributing to my consistent low air-pressure readings when diving.  The online manual did not seem to provide any guidance to actual readings specifically, only "Sets how much pressure the tank has when full. This value is used to determine the upper end of the pressure gauge, and to calculate respiratory minute volume (RMV) for tanks using psi units."

  • Working pressure is used with cylinder volume to determine the relationship between volume and pressure, which is in turn used to calculate your SAC and RMV. It should not affect your gauge pressure reading, as this is a direct reading of the cylinder pressure.
