Has anyone tried using the Descent for an Ironman?

I use a Forerunner 935 normally, but it's getting long in the tooth, so I'm not sure I trust the battery for a full Ironman, assuming the worst case scenario (that it takes the full 17 hours to finish, lol).

I JUST got a Descent yesterday, and was considering using it, since it's got a fresh battery, to do my first IM next month. I don't see any posts or Google hits about anyone using one in a full IM length event, just wondering if there's anything I'm not aware of that would make it a bad choice for a triathlon...other than it's as heavy as a brick, lol.

that it should last up to 20 hours in normal GPS mode and 35 hours in UltraTrac GPS mode which is the same as stated for the Fenix 5X. It might be worth looking for Fenix 5X users that have done an Ironman.

Thanks, I assumed it was basically a Fenix, just wanted to be 100% sure that there wasn't some crucial thing I was overlooking...I'd hate for it to die 2 hours from the finish line, lol.

Again, it's super heavy, which can be distracting on a long event, but other than that, I figure it should be good to go, but I will do a little digging on the 5X to verify this. I do know that some of the ANT+/BT connections can drain the battery faster, and running a HRM, power meter, and cadence sensor might reduce the life a bit.
