HIIT training setting

The owner's manual for the Descent G1 specifically refers to a HIIT training activity setting (see page 50). However there is no such activity setting available on my G1. How can I add this?

You have to upload the file to the watch over the USB cable, and no, it will not destroy your watch. I already tried uploading a non-native sports definition fit file to my Instinct.

If it is not available in the additional activity types, you either need to wait for the next firmware update, or you can try putting the attached file HIIT.fit from Instinct 2 to the folder //GARMIN/Sports/. You have to unzip it first, of course. I am not quite sure whether it works without modifying the model ID in the fit file, but since Descent G1 is a derived Instinct 2, there is a certain chance it could work. If you try and it works, let me know.

My data doesn't seem to be stored on my computer -- only on my iPhone via the Garmin Connect app. So I'm not sure how'd I'd get this file where it needs to go.

It worked! I connected the G1 to my Mac via USB and added the file to the Sports folder. When I ejected the watch, I got a message on the watch asking if I wanted to install the latest update. After I did that, HIIT was in the activity list. Thanks! The only other change I noticed was that my battery life indicator widget changed from battery life percentage to days remaining.

The battery indicator must be unrelated. The sports files have no impact on the screen out of the activity.

This is a Road Bike activity from Instinct 2. It might work on G1, similarly as the HIIT did, but not sure for other devices.
