The MARQ series is a higher-end "timepiece" and will likely live alongside the D2 series, in the same way that the Fenix Chronos (Garmin's first device designed to look, feel and be priced as a higher end watch) did not replace the Fenix series. The two lines will essentially serve two customer bases, with the MARQ series geared towards more traditional "watch people", that is those people who have multiple time pieces from various manufacturers like TAG and Breitling.
For me, I will likely always be a D2 series guy but I have a friend with five or six watches that are each worth more than my first car -- the MARQ series is certainly for him. But that said, the MARQ series is an amazing looking device.
