Do you both have the same phone OS (ie. Android vs iOS) and the same version of the OS? And if so, are both versions of the Messenger app the same? Because if any of the phone details are different then that could explain the difference in the display. I don't use FB Messenger so I can't confirm this is the same for my D2 Delta but I do know that what gets displayed on my D2D depends on the "Privacy" option in the Notification settings, so I'd also check that.
